Packaging was great, seemed sturdy enough and it was playing two VHS-C tapes. I put in the third and closed the lid and it began to expand and then i heard snapping. When i lifted the tape cover, I saw the tape of the VHS-C was at the beginning so I assumed it just couldn't pull it through. Wound the tape manually so it wouldn't be so close to the beginning and tried again and heard the same noise. Took the tape out and closed the lid and the mechanisms just wouldn't not stay in the expanded position, the popping noise continued, and then the lid flew open and now won't close.TL;DRThe thing broke after 3 uses.

Unlike the original unit, fitting the small cartridge into this player is a challenge. It is not a drop in, but a struggle in, but it works and that is what matters.

It does what it does, it takes you back to the past- to play camcorders recordings.

Product worked perfectly for my old VHS-c tapes

The way I would describe this product is delicate, definitely not robust. The first cassette I inserted after following the directions caused it to jam. At that point I thought I'd have to send it back. I was able to move the parts by hand and get it to move. I then noticed that one of the pins that hold the tape in place was bent. Apparently it didn't lock in place like it should. It didn't break, it is flexible and straightened itself out pretty much. After messing with it a bit and taking the tape in and out a couple times it began to work although did get stuck in the machine once. I was able to pull it out. Since then I have used it on a number of tapes and it works but occasionally/rarely it still jams. Recently the tape got caught in the VCR. Again I was able wiggle it out.I have not tried any others to compare to this one but just be aware it has a lot of plastic parts, some thin and it is not rugged. But since the initial problems it has been working for the most part. You may want to try a different one. However, it is likely they may all come from the same company with different names.
