Durable, retractor work well. A lot of it is plastic and not metal but it's strong plastic and I figure this avoids rust. I put it on my deck and it's perfect for hosing off the furniture after a mess meal.

Great garden hose

Bought this in summer of 2024 and love it. No more tangled hoses and it was super easy to install. I have had no leaks or any issues. You just give a slight tug and it will release to allow the hose to reel back in. I mounted it to a steel fence post that is near the house and fit perfectly and looks great. It is all plastics outer case so no worries of rust.

The rubber belt that is used when winding the hose in and out is very weak and will flip over. It catches on the reel and when it flips over the design for the mechanism to move back and forth stops and the hose just loads up in one spot on the reel and causes it to bind up.. This happened less than a year. I emailed support and called the company, no responded from them. I like the look, build quality is junk. I had Gardena and working perfect, build quality will last many years.

So much nicer than dragging a hose everywhere. I was skeptical if this would be worth the mondy but it 100% is. I don't want to be without one ever again.

I have four hose outlets and usually the hoses end up, in many cases, just laying on the ground. Winding hoses up is probably my least favorite chore of outside work. I researched the self-winding units and decided Giraffe was my best bet. I ordered the 100 foot 3/8" hose unit and installed it with no problems. I read all the instructions, as I always do with any new tool, and put it to the test. After pulling out about 50 feet of hose and gave it a jerk to rewind, it started to rewind but the travel gear that was supposed to travel back and forth, to aline the hose evenly, did not move so he hose re-wound in one spot and would not retract any further. After much time and aggravation, I managed to get the hose back into the unit except about 8 feet left out. It is still not working right. I want to order more rewinding units but Giraffe will not the one I order. It does not live up to its name.

I hated to have hoses outside. They were constantly getting tangled and bending doesn't to turn turn the traditional reel just was not hole answer. Now we simply walk it out as far was we need and it stays there. When we're done a gentle yank and it reells back on its own. We bought a longer one for the back and a 90 ft model for the front. It's worth the investment!
