Overall I am happy with this product.Cons:It is not the strongest chemical. It will take some time to take effect.Pros:1. It works well if you allow it some time to do the job.2. It is not a super strong chemical ( split a little on my hand accidentally and didn't get any chemical burn like i did before).Allow the liquid to work for 10 hours overnight (or pour a little before you go to work).

This 1 litre bottle of drain bioclean and odour control is designed to prevent drain blockages and smells from drain pipes.It says on the bottle that it will not have an immediate action of drain unblocking (you’ll need to ensure drain is not blocked before using this) and advises leaving to work in the drain for between 6-8 hours.I got it for ‘maintenance’ cleaning to try and reduce the smell which is sometimes noticeable in the kitchen sink, especially when the washing machine is draining into the overflow pipe.The instructions advise you to pour 30-60mls of product down the drain and repeat every couple of weeks. It doesn’t come with a measuring lid so you’ll need to use a jug, or as I did, ‘guesstimate’ a manual pour straight from the bottle.The liquid inside is quite watery and is a light blue colour. It does smell quite nice, a clean fragrant smell, but not overbearingly ‘chemically’ like bleach.I’m not sure how effective it will be in the long term, but the bottle should last a fair few months if used for this purpose as directed.

Works effectively and keeps the drain flowing freely

I have had issues with a smell from my sink which is really noticeable whenever I have my washing machine running. This bottle is well sealed, with a childproof lid, and a decent size. This isn’t a product to unblock your sink, it’s more a preventative ongoing treatment to use. It has a nice fresh smell, it’s easy to use and it definitely has made a difference to the smell. For good results you do need to use this on an ongoing basis so I will be buying more bottles as I’m more than happy with it.

Used to an outside drain and odour was gone

Used to clear smell from drain of shower.Have previously used soda crystals or citric acid eco friendly products with great success. This product, even after 3 applications, following the instructions very carefully, reduced the smell but did not clear it.I went back to previous treatment recipe and it went!Very disappointing waste of £10.

I've used Zep products before and they are generally good quality at a reasonable price, so good value.This one is no different. The waste pipe isn't fitted very well in my kitchen, I think the previous owners did a pretty poor DIY job. It doesn't drain properly and causes a bit of a build up in gunk every so often which creates a smell. I'm having a new kitchen installed in the next few months so it isn't worth the time or effort to sort out the waste pipe. But, this has really helped. I'm having to dose a little more than the instructions say but I think that's more down to my sink / waste pipe rather than the product. It has however been far more effective than the previous way I was managing my situation, so thumbs up from me.

I have a sink drain that seems to slow to a trickle about once a year and have to use a caustic cleaner to unclog it, the treatment has been done already this year but not by this product. As the sink drain is currently free flowing I have started using this in its maintenance dosage to see if it keeps it clear over the course of a year, I will update. The only thing I would say is the packaging would be improved by a dosage window with graduations to show the quantity at various levels. This would be great if it was done at the recommended maintenance dose so that you didn't have to contaminate and then wash a measuring vessel each time in order not to overdose and therefore waste product.
