The best bread ever!!
First attempt at homemade bread, used the improver in an attempt to stop the bread only lasting one day (like so many store bought loaves too, they also make me bloated too).I prepared the dough took 5 mins, covered and left to rise in the fridge over night. Then I knocked it back (punched air out of dough) and left out in room temperature to prove for an hour. Cooked in a Dutch oven and removed the lid for the last 10-15 mins.It surpassed my expectations and made the best bread I’ve ever eaten, lovely light texture and flavour. It rose beautifully and a perfect crust.Three days later and it’s still soft and not at all stale nor chewy (although nearly all been eaten). The best bit for me is it doesn’t cause my stomach to swell up like almost all store bread does.I’ve used this alongside the same brand yeast and it’s so easy to use, simply mix in with the flour whilst dry.Amazing value for money as you only need to use a tiny amount per loaf.I will be buying more without a doubt.

Great for Wholemeal Bread
This stuff is a mazing. I used it for the first time today when I added it to wholmeal ingredients, and the results were very good as the bread raised a lot higher than usual.I don’t understand why there are some reviews who are giving this a low rating? One review criticised both this enhancer and his cheap second hand bread machine! Maybe it’s because they are using it wrong? Dough enhancer is for wholemeal, rye or other whole grain flours, or to be used in white bread flour recipes with heavy ingredients such as cheese. It’s not for normal white bread mix.wholemeal loaf

Definitely helps make better wholemeal bread
Pricey at £5.95 for 200g, but this probably works out at about around 20p per loaf based on a 7g teaspoonful dosage.Particularly effective for brown and wholemeal style breads, the enhancer seems to allow gluten to be more easily formed, leading to a lighter and less “cakey” loaf.I think for white bread made with good quality flour, this product probably isn’t strictly necessary but would shorten the proving time.

Worth it!
I have baked bread for 30 plus years. It`s a bit of an obsession, I have many, many books on the subject. This additive has vastly improved the texture of my bread. I only make by hand, not machine.

Shame about the price.
This gets five stars because it does exactly as claimed. Adding to wholemeal bread I got a loaf nearly twice the size and amazingly soft. And six days on nearly as fresh as day one. But the downside is the price. I used an amount in the middle of the recommended amount. But when you work out the cost you would be better off just buying the bread. I am hoping to reduce the amount used a little on the next few to see if I can get it to make economic sense. As this pack has a two year shelf life maybe larger packs would also help. Great product but you need to decide how much home baked bread is worth to you.
