Made a mistake and purchased a SANNCE unit first. The SANNCE worked as a DVR, but I had trouble with connecting it to my phone, which is just as important to me as the DVR recording. The Zosi also had network difficulties. Not only does this Annke device work with my existing cameras it easily connected to the mobile app. Additionally the software seems better overall. The user experience with their software is much better, the camera images actually appear more clearly and crisp than any of the other lower end Amazon DVRs I have tried. I guess the main lesson I learned is don't simply look at Amazon reviews. Dig one step deeper and look at the reviews of the mobile apps on the Google Play Store or Apple's App Store. If the mobile functionality is important to you, the mobile software is just as important as the firmware on the actual DVR.

Great DVR for a great price. Easy connections and compact size

App is kind of clunky and not super intuitive, but the device itself works pretty great and hasn’t failed me yet.

It's loaded with modern features which I like, and that's why I buy it in the first place. But, it's a video recorder, the video quality is just terrible. Compare to my old DVR, this one has low resolution and full of noise cross the image, especially in night vision mode. And this probably also lead to another fatal problem: my phone is flooded with faulty alarm, even with AI on and sensitivity set to 40 (default 60 or 80 can't remember). And yeah, my friend drive by right in front of my cameras with a 40-ft truck but I got no alarm about it. May be his truck is too big to be detected? So in short, this machine is like a car loaded with state-of-the-art luxurious, security and safety features, but when you attempting to drive it to somewhere, it barely catch a 45mph traffic. Some people may say upgrade firmware or ask customer service. No, when I see its hardware, I know it's no use, its hardware is just not capable of it. And its firmware is already up to date. There is no fan, just a tiny chip with tiny heat sink. Both H265 and AI require a lot of computing power, and this is an 18-channel (16 x BNC/IP convertible + 2 x IP only) DVR, there should be a very strong CPU which generates a lot of heat and HDD is also a heat source. I am not saying there is no H265 and AI, but that's why video quality is so poor because that's its hardware capable of. Now I returned it and reconnect my old DVR which is a bit of out dated, but good video quality.

The software has been improved since previous models. The Dvr was super easy to connect to the cameras and to my phone. The motion alerts were a bit much at first, but once I adjusted some things it got better. The quality and reliability are still unknown. My previous models only lasted about 2- 4 years, but mainly a lightning issue.

I purchased the ANNKE security camera system in November 2024, and unfortunately it completely stopped working after about six months. The cameras suddenly blanked out and have not worked since, which defeats the purpose of having a “security” system in the first place. To make matters worse, because the failure happened after the return window closed, I can’t return it or get my money back — so I’m now out more than $300 for a system that’s totally useless. For something this important, I expected far better reliability and support. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this product. If you’re looking for a dependable security system, i’d suggest looking elsewhere.
