yum
Even better flavor than a less expensive alternative I tried. Worth the price difference. Ordered again. P.S. For the record, I add a significant amount of frothed organic half n' half (or lightly whipped heavy cream), plus a little organic sucanat (that's a type of whole cane sugar with the rich molasses flavor not removed). So it is rich and creamy and a bit sweet. That's how I like it.

One of the best Hojicha's I've ever tried
This was really good. The taste was somewhere in between a velvety chocolate and a nice roast. The color is also a stunning brown. It is also an amazing deal! The texture is a bit gritty, but you can't fault it too much since Hojicha is made with the worst harvest.

The correct way to make a Hojicha Latte with this delicious powder!
If this hojicha tastes fishy or burned, then it's probably user error. After experimenting here's what I recommend for a good iced hojicha latte with this powder: - 1 generous tsp of hojicha powder - 2 oz hot water - 175 degrees F - sweetener of choice (my favorite is a splash of maple syrup, but vanilla is delicious too) - ice - milk of choice Add the water to the powder and froth (you can use a traditional matcha whisk, but I'm lazy and use a cheap electric handheld frother wand). Pour over the milk and ice and enjoy. Simple and delicious! The key is not to burn the powder - 175 F is good! It's not rocket science - adjust it from there as desired. Add a little more water, add some flavor to it, top with a homemade cold foam....just enjoy it!

Not bad for Beginner
Great hojicha for the price! It’s a huge tin and the aroma is super strong upon opening. That being said, I don’t think it lasts long even with proper care. It could be better in terms of color and depth in flavkr

It tastes so good!!! I was afraid of tasting or smelling something fishy as some people commented but it a pwrfect beginner hojicha. Nutty and roasted, not that bold but not that bland, a perfect balance. it reminds me a bit of dark chocolate. I also heard that theres a bit of a caramel aftertaste but i think because of the milk I used (fresh milk) I couldnt taste it. The colour of the hojicha is dark a good sign of a good hojicha. I dont usually write reviews but this is so good :)))

Good quality with very strong earthy and nutty flavour! The hotter the water the stronger the flavour.

This product took me by surprise. This taste like matcha but has that extra roasted taste to it. It also has an aftertaste like caramel/chocolate. I mix mine with a pump of vanilla syrup and I have also tried it with a small teaspoon of brown sugar. If you love matcha, you will love this too. I like that it's more affordable than matcha.

The powder comes in a sealed bag, tucked inside a tin with a snug-fitting lid. Its colour is a deep, rich amber, much like burnt caramel. The texture is fine and smooth, without any lumps, and it gives off a nutty, slightly smoky aroma with hints of caramel and roasted chestnuts. There is no mustiness or stale smell—just an inviting scent. When tasted in its powdered form, the tea has a gentle sweetness paired with roasted, earthy flavours and a mild bitterness. It is smooth and lacks the astringency I usually taste in non-roasted green tea powders. Although I haven’t tried toasted green tea before, I can compare it to non-roasted green tea powders like matcha. Brewed, the tea turns a reddish-brown with slight cloudiness and sediment. The aroma is rich, reminiscent of toasted nuts. In terms of flavour, it is mild, smooth, and rounded, with a naturally sweet, roasted taste that lingers pleasantly. Unlike non-roasted green tea, which can be grassy and quite bitter, this tea offers a distinct roasted, slightly vegetal flavour and only a touch of bitterness. The mouthfeel is smooth and silky, with no grit or harsh aftertaste. What I particularly enjoyed is how balanced the taste is—neither harsh nor overly bitter or smoky. It has a warm, comforting quality that regular green tea lacks. Another plus is that it has lower caffeine than unroasted green tea, making it perfect for an evening cup. It also feels gentler on the stomach compared to the sometimes harsh, astringent green teas that can cause me acid reflux and irritation. All in all, I found the roasted green tea enjoyable and would recommend it to anyone who prefers milder flavours.
