Great utility, design & excellent customer service!
First of all, the customer service is EXCELLENT! I had used the gas turn off feature to pry a rusted fence staple from a piece of old wood. I could not get the staple to bite using either pry feature, so I used about 3/4" of the turn off tip. Easy pressure and it snapped! Working with steel is a hobby so hardening can be a bit tricky at times, but this is a commercial product. Emailed them and within a half hour had an answer. Within 3 days I had a new tool in my hand. Staple out with tool intact. Both tools are very sharp and stay sharp. I made a nice pile of kindling from well seasoned hardwood without dulling the edge. The design and utility is quite clever, being well balanced and easy to use the assorted tools. It is lightweight, but could improve with a coating of a "grippy" substance. The sawzall blade works well and the way it is attached to the handle precludes any attempts to strong arm the blade, wobbles and makes you let the blade do the work. I have pounded a few nails into an old red oak fence post. All remained intact, the handle bit into my hand a little at the saw opening, but I was giving it a very hefty whack. Gloves for heavy beating will be worn in the future. I will be buying this as a gift for friends, and will add another for my truck toolbox.

I love my O
I love my O.T.G. elite axe..i work in a machine shop and when it was delivered me and my buds had to start cutting things with the saw..worked awesome..the axe itself needed to be sharpened..but I took care of that..some of the tools on it i don't understand how to use totally..maybe you can direct me to your site explaining all tools on this device..any how I applaud you OGT..FOr being a American company and I watched a video by a chris something saying he didn't care for the claw hammer or the way the saw blade didnt lock..but he went on to explain how you worked with him and fixed these problems..Bravo..to see a company actually give a dam..thank you Brian Louks..

5 Star Idea, Evolving - Corrected +
As a long-time owner of the full length Trucker's Friend I knew the utility of this Survival Axe Elite would add value for the motorcycle adventurer. It replaces a Gerber Axe/Saw Combo in a lighter weight package, in addition to offering additional "emergency" functions like the pry bar, hammer and strap/cord cutter. All that in a single, portable package is a great addition to my panniers/saddlebags where the Trucker's Friend simply couldn't fit.(Corrected reference to "Trucker's Friend" - but then my son noticed something to add. The strap cutting blade is installed in the handle and it appears to be a blade style similar to those "Box Cutter" sectioned blades used by breaking off the dulled blade section to expose a new blade section in the links. If I find the correct size blade in such sectioned box cutters, or if the designer can enlighten us on what they recommend, I think there would be value added with an update to this review.)Two tweaks I had to make: 1) sanded down two upper "bumps" (castle-like grip features) that were closest to axe head to about 1/2 original height which eliminated blister-making "hot spots" when wielding the tool and; re-filed all grind angles to make them convex grinds (axe edge) or chisel grinds (pry edge) instead of the "soccer ball" pattern of random grinds that approximated a useful cutting/prying grind angle.Yes, using gloves when wielding the tool would eliminate the "hot spots" equally well. In an emergency the user probably would not even notice or care anyway. But mellowing the grip by sanding those gripping points worked well for my medium-sized hands and should allow routine use without undue discomfort. And yes, most emergency users or demolition users of this tool won't care about the haphazard grinds. It was functional for, and I assume designed for, those types of use when it came from the box. So if emergency or demolition define your needs for this tool, then you're good to go. Most users in today's world probably have little experience with axes, wood chisels, jack planes, or other edged tools anyway so they wouldn't even know what I'm talking about. But those dinosaurs and discriminating tool users out there who know what I'm saying, and why it matters, should plan an hour or two in refining the edges. For info, I got the axe edge to a "hair-popping" sharpness after profiling to a more refined convex edge. I haven't tested durability of that edge yet but if the heat-treating is even nominally applied I'm sure edge retention will be similar to most of the 1045 or 1055 carbon steel axe blades on the market. If Off Grid Tools uses a higher grade carbon steel like 1085 or 1095 to maximize hammer head utility, then it should perform very well for a moto-camp tool. The other quick mod recommended is to file the "spine" of the saw blade, and any additional "Sawzall" blades you add to your arsenal, to get a squared edge for striking your ferrocerrium rod and fire building uses. I'm moving my similarly modified wood-cutting blades, additional multi-purpose blades, and my diamond-grit types of blades to this tool package and eliminating the "handle" I've historically had to carry in my kit for them. The Survival Axe Elite eliminates the need for that other handle since all it takes is the common Phillips Head screw driver (or bit) to remove the handles and swap the blade for another. Just be careful you don't lose the screws or the spring that locks the blade into its open position. (Don't ask why I mention that. It has something to do with foolishly using my chest-type freezer as a work bench during tool disassembly. The rest you don't want to hear about.)As clearly stated by "Drop Forged Survival" in their excellent video review, this doesn't replace all the tools you'll need to rebuild your world in the EOTWAWKI scenario. But if it's all you have because it's all you can carry along with you, then it'll sure beat having nothing but a cell phone carcass that has no grid to link with for help. Heck, with this, plus a good Leatherman/Gerber/SOG/Other multi-tool (especially like the Wave or Charge with their marvelous tool bits), plus the Rancher's Tool crescent/pliers combo, there's a whole lot you can do when you're off-grid, whether off-grid by choice or by fate.Bottom line is 4 stars for an outstanding idea that still has refinement that is often achieved by evolution of an idea. The Survival Tool Elite is well worth the money for those self-reliant types among us. Get it as is and make the tweaks needed for a 5 star resource in your saddlebags.Amazon and the vendor did a great job getting it to me, even though I ordered it one day too late to have it along on my last camping trip before the snow fell on my high-country camp sites. But that was my fault. I'll give it a full-on test when the melt comes next year and my old bones can handle the high country again.

Eh. It’s ok. Duller than a butter knife so takes a lot of work to get functional
Seems like a lot of thought went into this, and it’s lightweight and appears pretty useful. Haven’t tried it out yet, but the hammer and hatchet head (the primary functions for me) seem like they should work ok.But man....dullest hatchet/axe blade ever. In some places the edge is like 1/32 thick at the cutting edge. The grind is all over the place and a mess. I don’t own a grinder, so this gonna take me forever to sharpen it with my stones and is going to take all of the edge black off making it more rust-prone. The edge is just...really badI would have expected much better for the “elite” version. Supposedly it’s good steel though so I should be able to make it workable as a camp hatchet in time and it’ll hopefully have some durability

Awesome Tool
Awesome!!! I love it! My buddies are so jealous! Really useful and solid. Very well made. I don’t agree with the people giving this tool poor reviews. It works how it’s supposed to work. You can’t expect to cut down a giant redwood tree with it. Great for hiking and camping!

I took it out this weekend and did a thorough test of the majority of the attachments. It performed and held up well to my torture test. I would recommend this to anyone to store in their vehicle for an emergency or on a back country camping adventure. It survived the wilds of Kodiak, Alaska. Very durable and lightweight.

Do not buy
Not a quality tool. Used to cut a lime and hammer some tent posts in. Immediately rusted upon cleaning. I properly dried off and paid extra money for the axe with “a supposed better metal blend”, not to mention the axe has a coating on the outside I would assume to be rust resistant. For $60 I could have bought better tools separately that would not rust do not purchase.

Very practical multi-tool. Searched for the old fashioned hammer/axe used for opening crates but found this to be a superior design. Wished it was a bit heavier but it’s lightweight could make it useful for hiking/camping to cut firewood.
