Great replacement for Coffee, Easy on stomach
After having to give up coffee, and really missing being able to sip a nice hot mug of java each morning, I found reviews for Teeccino. I bought first a small box of the "Tee Bags." As soon as I opened the envelope, the smell was rich and wonderful. The prepared beverage was very good and I enjoyed it so much! So I ventured out again to get a bag of the "loose" grounds that you "brew" like you would coffee. Again, I was VERY pleased! I find the aroma and flavor to be very satisfying. Better than the "cold brew" coffee I had been trying to drink.I read some reviews likening this product to "Postum." I found something like Postum at my health food store called "Kaffree Roma" which is made by Kellogg's. It is an instant beverage with similar ingredients to the Teeccino. So I tried that as well. I did not think it was quite as good as the Teeccino. The flavor of the Roma was a bit sesame-like.I highly recommend the Teeccino. It might not be exactly the same taste as coffee, but it really is close. And if you don't like one variety, try a different flavor. Also, one reviewer said the Teeccino was "bitter." I have noticed this happened when I accidentally brewed mine too long. So if it's bitter, shorten your brew time.UPDATE, MAY 20, 2012: I have been using the Teeccino for a few months now. I have absolutely no problems with my stomach when drinking it! Although we LOVE the other flavors as well (especially Vanilla Nut and Chocolate) we find that we still drink the French Roast most often. I have even gotten my husband to switch from coffee to Teeccino now!!Some tips for new Teeccino drinkers: After you decide which flavor you like best, utilize the "subscribe" option. You can get any flavor and YOU can pick how often you want an order; monthly, every 2 or 3 months, etc. It will save you a little bit on each bag and makes life easy since you don't forget to re-order.Also, we have prepared our Teeccino different ways; coffee pot, french press, Teeccino bags, etc. We have found that we prefer the Teeccino when prepared in a French Press. This method also seems to use WAY less Teeccino, making it an even better choice. For our press (which holds about 4 cups) we use 2 rounded Tbsp. of Teeccino. We have not experienced ANY bitterness preparing our "coffee" this way.UPDATE March 2013: Still drinking the Teeccino and LOVING it. Have recommended it to several friends who also love it now. Wanted to share this excellent appliance we found for making our Teeccino each morning. It takes only 3 tbsp of the Teeccino grounds to make a full pot with this: http://www.amazon.com/Russell-Hobbs-RHTT9W-1-7-Liter-Electric/dp/B0038KVKE4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1362609781&sr=8-3&keywords=russell+hobbs. *Note* After we brew the Teeccino for a few minutes, we take out the removable brew basket to avoid any bitterness. Enjoy!

Tastes a lot like coffee. Maya Herbal Coffee - French Roast Organic
I have read a lot of bad reviews. I generally skim those over to get a general idea of worst case scenario. This stuff actually tastes almost exactly like coffee. I can't speak for any other flavors, but I'll definitely be keeping this flavor on hand. I bought mine at Central Market for $10/11oz Bag. Not a bad deal, but it appears to be cheaper on Amazon. I'll likely put in a re-order when they get this flavor back in stock. If you're looking for a coffee substitute, try this one first. It isn't as good as the dark yummy stuff you get at high end coffee shops or through special bulk blends like Yirgacheffe, but it's undoubtedly better than gas station swill.I highly recommend this for anyone with a caffeine allergy or caffeine sensitivity like me. One sip of even decaf could throw me into a perpetual state of anxiety. This stuff, so far, is symptom free and satiates my love of coffee. Being gimped of the ability to drink coffee just got a lot more tolerable. Thanks, Teeccino!

Well, you get used to it...
After a lifetime of drinking coffee and 2.5 gallons of diet soda a day, caffeine and I have had to finally part ways forever. Even the slightest amount of caffeine brings terrible side effects. But oh how I relish the aroma and flavor of black coffee. I have looked everywhere for a replacement, and I have yet to find a suitable replacement. In short, there is none.I tried many of the Teeccino flavors and most could only be described as tasting like a paper spitball. However, that has not been the case with the Maya French Roast. It has the bitter mouth feel that I miss from a strong cup of black coffee. Unfortunately, it does not also have the aroma of coffee. I used to love being awakened by the heavenly scent of a pot of real coffee brewing in the kitchen. I have yet to find a substitute that has that coffee smell and that includes this one. I read many reviews about this stuff before buying any, and I can report that the reviews that say this stuff smells like coffee are greatly exaggerated. If someone could find a way to fully replicate the aroma of coffee without the caffeine or acid, it would be extremely successful. But as I said, it does have a similar mouth feel as coffee and after three weeks of drinking this stuff everyday, I can honestly say that I look forward to a cup in the morning or after dinner. It is NOT coffee, but it's better than any substitute I have tried and I will be ordering more. Now when I say "I am drinking coffee," I mean this stuff (please forgive me Juan Valdez).Only one tablespoon per two cups of water means this goes a lot farther than coffee, and you don't have to worry about it becoming rancid like real coffee. The grounds are very fine (almost dust-like) and they can make a mess in a drip coffee maker so I place a second filter on top of the coffee which has made it a lot easier to clean up.I read one bad review that said this coffee was way too acidic, but it says on the package it is "Non-acidic" and I have found that to be true. Real coffee gives me almost instant heartburn, but that is not the case with the Teeccino.
