This is not just (accurate) score for moonlight sonata, but also a book about the historical background to this piece, with all relevant info including a sample of Beethoven's original score. A treasure.Obviously, all the other attributes that go with every Henle edition apply here: clean, easy to read score, fingering where needed, and above all - no errors.Don't go for cheaper scores, they always have something wrong with them. Save some money, but buy Henle, always.

I think from now on, I will only get sheet music in this format. There is an intro to give a little history and perspective on the piece, which is nice if you want to play the music with the correct "feel". I can read the music without my glasses. The print quality is great. Couldn't be more satisfied.

In passato avevo studiato sempre da edizione urtext, ma era un’edizione molto spoglia, priva di qualsiasi considerazione. In questa edizione invece, curata da Norbert Gertsch e Murray Perahia, troviamo un’ampia prefazione, seguita da una vera e propria introduzione, che ci introduce al brano vero e proprio, con tutta una serie di considerazioni storiche necessarie per comprenderne pienamente le sue origini. La partitura è affidabile e dettagliata, mentre la carta gialla è di buona qualità e non affatica la vista. Al termine troviamo anche una sezione commenti dove, con grande onestà e trasparenza, e servendosi di edizione originale e autografo, si analizzano tutti i casi più controversi, nel tentativo di rimanere il più fedelmente possibile alla volontà dell’autore. Consiglio quindi vivamente questa edizione per la sua affidabilità e completezza.

Dieses Heft ist empfehlenswert für alle, die sich an die gesamte Mondscheinsonate wagen. Der langsame und melancholische erste Satz, den sogar musische Analphabeten sofort erkennen, ist noch relativ leicht zu erlernen. Nach dem störrischen, kurzen zweiten Satz kommt das schnelle und fordernde Finale des dritten Satzes, den ich bereits wochenlang übe und weiterhin üben werde müssen.Enthält neben den gut lesbaren Notensätzen auch Spieltipps, Erklärungen und geschichtliche Hintergründe. Eine sehr empfehlenswerte Reihe!
