Excellent
Another great book by Danielle Steel. The book is about 4 adults and one child becoming roommates in a large old home. They are very different and have their separate lives. The longer they live in the house, the friendlier they become and turn into a family of sorts.

Not her best
Danielle Steele is a legend, but her new book is not her best. It felt predictable to me, and the main character, Francesca, felt a little to perfect for me as reader to identify with as a reader. The title of the book, 44 Charles street, is what the book is about, an old house that Francesca and her boyfriend of five years bought together in New York. Todd, the boyfriend, turns 40 and feels that he wants more out of life, meaning a wife and kids, while Francesca, an art gallery owner, wants to keep doing what she's doing.Unfortunately, Francesca can't afford the beautiful old house by herself so she takes on roommates and that's where the meat of the story takes place. There's a young teacher who likes bad boys, a famous chef (this felt weird, because a famous chef would have enough money to afford her own place. Next we have a man Francisca's age who has his young son staying with him every other weekend. He puts in bunk beds for the two of them making me think he's dirt poor.Francisca's parents are eccentric and the most interesting people in the novel for me, yet not much time was really spent on them. Francisca's mother would have been great to follow instead of her boring, perfect daughter. But again, this is a Danielle Steele novel, and she sells millions of books because she's great at what she does and the reader always gets what they pay for, a good story, great potting, and likable characters. Great escapism that doesn't ask a lot from the reader and sometimes, that's exactly what you want. I just felt like this wasn't her best novel. She's written much better books and I'm sure will continue to do so in the future.

Not her best, but still enjoyable
As a few others mentioned, you pretty much know what to expect when a new Danielle Steel novel comes out and I think that's a big part of why she's so popular, you know exactly what you are getting, an easy, feel good read with likeable people and interesting plots. The downside, her heroines do have a tendency to be a bit boring and too perfect, but always nice people. This one was just too predictable, it was easy to see exactly where the story was going, no surprises at all.But still, I liked it enough to read in one sitting, like I usually do with her books and will pass this off to my sister who enjoys them as well. Great escape reading.

44 Charles Street by Danielle Steel
A very good book and a five star rating. I enjoyed the book and was happy that I discovered I somehow missed it. I was impressed with the storyline and it had a very happy ending.Finding love at any age doesn't matter. It's only a number. She proved that in this book. I recommend all of her books to anyone who enjoys a good romance novel.

*Rocky Road to Love*
Francesca Thayer was brought up by a mother who is addicted to marriage whilst her father is addicted to women. With her parents divorced and living separately her father now settled with a woman called Avery who Francesca finds more relatable than her drama queen mother, who is on the hunt for husband number 6. All this has made Francesca wary of marriage. She feels she is settled with Todd a man that she loves and a old house with lots of features but is a money pit. This takes a toll on their relationship and she cannot afford to keep the house on her own but wants to keep the house. With Todd now gone she decides to reluctantly take in 3 tenants.Eileen is a young teacher with a troubled past due to physical abuse via her father, her Sunny demeanour covers a multitude of problemsChris is a newly divorced father who shares custody with his drug addict wife and has an adorable son.Marya is a famous cookery writer who makes the most exquisite dishes, she is trying to start her life again after the death of her husband. As cautious as Francesca is she finds she is making firm friends with her tenants bit by bit as she is getting to know them.In time we see the evidence that one of her tenants has gone from one abuse to another which ends in tragedyOne tenant is going through torture trying to fight a custody battle that highlights the total denial that a drug addict with parents of influence think it’s right to keep a child in an unsafe environmentOne tenant who is finding her feet as she navigates dipping her toe into a possible relationship with a French chef who has been after her for yearsAnd a possible future for Francesca with a new love who has been right in front of her for months. The story is mostly predictable but easy to read/listen, but enjoyable

Great storyline. Danielle Steel manages to get some really thought provoking content into her novels. This book was no exception. It can make for some uncomfortable feelings. The reality of real life is sometimes hard to acknowledge. Danielle Steel does it brilliantly. Well worth the purchase.

Good read
A really good storyline. How strangers got together when renting rooms in an old house. Their separate lives makes a good read, which the author managed to really keep me intrigued.

A comfy tale
A typical book of its genre.Makes a pleasant but somewhat predictable read. I enjoyed this book but it wasn’t a book that I felt couldn’t be put down , maybe it’s similarity to others in terms of general storyline was what I found difficult to overcome.
