Will this headlamp stay in night vision mode when turned off then back on?

I don't know if it retains memory if batteries die or are removed, but mine remembers the last mode when turned off (I'm still of my first set of batteries). This is nice because if you are using the green leds, you don't want to be blinded by the spot light next time you turn it back on.

Does this have a seal around the battery compartment?

Can anyone tell me how to change modes ? make the red light come on? mine seems to have three modes of white light only with the top led doing nothing

Hi, Below is from the manual: Switching Light Function: Press the on/off button to actuate the light as the light must be on prior to the next step. To change the light from Spot to Flood, press and hold the on/off button for two seconds until the light changes to the flood beam mode. Release the button. To switch from Flood mode to the Red LED mode, Press and hold the button again for two seconds until the light changes to the Red mode. Release the button. What is the difference between "box" and "clam" ?
