Even with the plastic only one inch above the lowest point (this is without the metal bead holder in place), the element causes the plastic to bubble almost immediately even when I am doing a slow start (yes I am aware that if you are doing two in a row, it will cause the second to bubble. I've been making stents on models for 20 years. I had to manually hold the lever to suspend the plastic close to the bottom the entire time and rotate the heating element on and off the plastic to keep it from bubbling. When it begins to dip, then you can move the heat, elevate it back up, slip your model underneath and then do the suck down. It's not quite as good as the old school black vacuforms, but I did like the red handle towards the back then in the front. It just requires a lot more supervision than I would like.

We ordered this and received in February and worked less than 3 months. Heating element failed.
