World of Warcraft: The Official Tarot Deck and Guidebook Review: Absolutely beautiful! - This is a large and very high-quality Tarot deck. Comes in a very sturdy box which feels quite heavy in the hand. This is not your average Tarot deck! the book/booklet is inside the box and has dimensions larger than the cards, is in beautiful full color, and has some basic introductory material and a reading for every card both Upright and Reversed. The booklet is 128 pages long with a double spread for each major arcana and a page for each minor arcana card. All cards are shown in color in the booklet. Every card, both major and minor arcana, has unique full-size artwork! All done in the same style which actually looks nicer than the product images show. The color gradients are very smooth and pleasant to look at. The art is surrounded by a shiny gold foil border. The card backs are a smooth matte, but all the central artwork and the four corner marks have a shiny smooth coating selectively applied to them. I ordered this back when it was announced, and it arrived on the day of release (after being delayed once). I wasn't expecting it to be as nice as it is. This would be a fantastic gift for any WoW player or anyone who enjoys fantasy art, whether or not they care much about the Tarot. And the price is amazing for what you get. I just ordered another one to use as a gift (or maybe I'll just keep it as a collectible just in case they go out of print). All the stars. Highest recommendation. Review: Beautiful Deck, Very Usable for Readings - Few things which are under the purview of Blizzard's WoW art team fail to wow, and this is no exception. The use of color and sketch on each card is exquisite. The characters depicted were clearly thoughtfully chosen by someone who cared about knowing Warcraft lore AND the symbolism of each tarot card (including pips). I often found the card-character matches either providing an interesting but accurate view of either the person or the card they were on I hadn't considered before. I bought two; one to keep as a collector's item and one to use for tarot readings. I truly think that anyone looking for a fantasy deck (a la D&D fantasy) would enjoy these cards, even if they weren't into WoW.

Pretty and Good Quality
I've played World of Warcraft since November 2004, and I collect tarot cards. Because of that I couldn't resist this deck. The art work is beautiful. The card stock is very good quality - sturdy. The included book is of good size to make reading it easier - rather than tiny books that are annoying. Personally, I would have chosen different iconic characters than some of the ones used. I sometimes questioned why some were used and not others. Overall, it is a lovely, very good quality deck. I'd love to have a fun deck, too, using the traditional WoW art work.

Absolutely gorgeous deck
I received my deck today and I absolutely love it! The deck came in a nice box, similar to other decks I've gotten. The guidebook that comes with the deck is great, with a full-color image of each card included. The cardstock is very high quality. The card art is absolutely beautiful, and each card has a gold foil border. The art on the card backs resembles the Chronicles cosmology chart, but simplified and fully reversible. The art and the icons in the corners are glossy on a matte background, which has a pretty striking effect when it catches the light. You don't have to be a diehard fan of World of Warcraft to enjoy this deck, but a knowledge of the lore of the game will definitely give you a deeper appreciation of it. The preorder shipping date got pushed back a couple times, but it wasn't anything too outrageous and it was definitely worth the wait. This deck exceeded my hopes and expectations. I would highly recommend it to anyone who's into both WoW and tarot--you will not be disappointed.

Truly exceeded expectations
I'm a WOW player from release date and Tarot reader for 55 years. Yes, I'm one of THOSE "older" players ( 68 years old) This deck is so much more than is describable without writing for days. I've read the other reviews, and agree with those that were pleasantly surprised over the better than average quality card stock and finish, these cards feel awesome in the hand. The art quality was absolutely brilliant, but I'd expect nothing less from WOW artists. These cards can easily stand alongside many other more well known decks in any collection. What makes this deck different? (This is where I differ from several other reviewers. I feel that each individual card was perfectly matched to RWS meanings as to character choices. ) Although the deck can easily be read by any seasoned Tarot reader, even those who are completely unfamiliar with the lore of Warcraft this deck brings out a depth of emotion and empathy that I've never felt in any of the thirty or more decks that I've owned over the years. I can only speak for myself, but I speak as a very seasoned WOW player. I KNOW the characters, I KNOW the lore, I have Thousands of hours of play time in Azeroth and Outlands, Shadowlands, Northrend, Pandaria, Dragonlands and too many other places to name. I have my Dirigible. SO, when I say that I am as emotionally invested in the storyline and lore as any other long time player, I truly mean it. The reason I'm making such a point is simple, because these cards reach my very soul ... sounds silly, right? The three of swords with it's imagery brought back a memory of pain so hard that I forgot to breathe for a second. Teldrassil ... It's years later and "just a game", but the genuine heartbreak, loss and grief that I felt when I saw that fire on my screen ... perfectly suits the three of swords of the Tarot deck. Years ago, questing through the most beautiful land I'd ever seen, climbing up a staircase into the unknown, I met a little black dragonling that wrapped himself around my heart and has never left. No other card suits Wrathion on his journey as well as The Fool. The Four of Wands? OMG ... I HATE Murlocs!!! I must've said that thousands of times, however, I can FEEL the celebration and joy coming off that card as the two little mischief makers haul their prize home for a tribal celebration. The Eight of Pentacles? I know that this card will resonate with anybody who has spent hundreds of hours levelling Pandarian cooking to earn that hat and title. And the lovers card, perfection. I could go on through every single one of the 78 cards and have a memory and story that is brought back by every single picture. But most importantly, a genuine connection based on experience and empathy which is so different from other decks where I have to think my way through the intended meanings. I was expecting a deck that would end up in the back of my drawer, just to be brought out occasionally as a conversation starter, a deck that vaguely followed RWS from someone who drew the pictures based off a little white book they'd had laying around. I want to say that this could not be farther from the truth. Whoever designed this deck has a depth of RWS understanding that could only come from a true Tarot reader, Likewise the choice of character representation of each individual card. That could only have been done by someone who knows the storyline inside and out and has a true connection to the storyline of each. Thank you so much for a deck that I know I'll have for many more years, and probably even passed on to my grandkids who are already playing.

Das World of Warcraft: The Official Tarot Deck and Guidebook ist einfach beeindruckend!

I'll lead off about what I liked about this tarot deck - the manufacturing and art make up the majority of my rating here! Beautiful quality of card thickness, fantastic use of gold foil and great border designs. While I don't believe the art in this deck is as detailed as it should be when clearly drawing inspiration from the classic Rider–Waite deck, is still very lovely to look at. Wonderful use of simple colours too! Overall, the presentation is the real winner for this deck. My 3-star review (it would be 2.5 stars) is directly related to character choices for the arcana, and lack of curiosity and depth in the accompanying guidebook in giving us insight about how these characters are a reflection of these arcana, through various readings and elements. As I'll reiterate below, a lot of the picks in this deck seem to operate on a shallow understanding of characters, or the 'vibes' of said character roughly fitting with the arcana. For example, Wrathion as The Fool. While the Fool is a dynamic arcana, the guide book in the WoW tarot overly focuses on Wrathion's (and the Fool arcana's) negative traits. The emphasis on 'childish, naive and diving in headfirst without a plan' is a poor read of this character, especially for a character in who loves meticulous, almost overwrought plans, who commands a spy network, and throws himself into research and problem-solving. As much as Dragonflight tried to 'push' this 'childish, naive and diving in headfirst without a plan' characterisation, it went down like a lead balloon with people interested in this character, as it required fans to ignore the character's growth between MoP and BFA. A more fitting choice for this Arcana would have been Chromie, who often has the double-edged sword of childish naivete and hopefulness, and often forges ahead without a true plan, due to her own predisposition as a bronze dragon. Alexstrasza as Temperance is another choice I believe was a 'single aspect' (pun intended) pick. It feels like someone read the word 'Temperance', wondered what character was patient, and went with the ancient Dragon Queen. Ironically, the Temperance arcana is much more deeply rooted in balance and the act of transmutation - alchemy! You would think characters like Belysra Starbreeze and Krennan Aranas - while much less known than Alexstrasza - would have been a much more suitable pick, as their actions led to the creation of a serum allowing worgen finding a balance within themselves, and not succumb to their affliction. Technically, any character with a deep rooted connection to transmutation, alchemy, artistic creation, and balance would have been a better pick (Beth'Amara, Shadra, anyone...?) Zovaal as Death is yet another prime example of poor character picks. A character, for all intent and purpose, completely devoid of character or characterisation. He just simply exists as the cardboard antagonist in the 'death' expansion. There are characters far more fitting for this Arcana, and would have resonated with Warcraft fans more. Essentially, a fair majority of the character choices for the major arcana and minor arcana run on 'vibes' rather than giving us insight or greater understanding of their natures or personas. This was a perfect opportunity to that, but instead, we had a very surface level understanding of both a majority of the characters and the tarot arcana meanings and esoteric readings. Additionally, the lack of Horde characters in the Major Arcana isn't a great look. While there are plenty of Horde characters in the minor arcana, technically we could look at this as once again as Horde characters not taking up 'major' roles, both within WoW at the moment and in supplementary materials, such as this deck. To conclude - this tarot deck makes for something very beautiful to look at, but lacks depth and nuance for people looking to find more out about their favourites, or further insight into Warcraft's characters overall.

This was a gift for my younger son, who I used to play WoW with back in 2006 and who I'm now playing it with again. There is nothing bad to say about this deck. The art is beautiful and the quality is outstanding. Classic Blizz.

The quality and art style are awesome. A lot of love went into these, and I was really surprised. I pre-purchased them without even knowing what they looked like, thinking they'd be a gimmick. Little did I know they'd be on premium card stock with gold trim and really nice illustrations.
