Excellent Shelf - High Quality
This is a great shelf, and hiding point for firearms. The install was ok, just gotta hit the 1st stud and then level. Directions say that this unit (compact) your gonna hit only 1 stud. I did not like that and there was no way I was putting this shelf up with 1 stud and 2 wall anchors. I marked the wall and found both studs and found that I was able to hit both studs for this shelf. This shelf is very heavy, sturdy and works fantastic. Whats confusing is that I bought the one with the RFID cards. Came with 3 and 1 card to shut off the alarm. MFG Website says an extra $100 for RFID & Bluetooth (phone). The back of the unit had an envelope with the cards and a PIN number. I downloaded the APP and held my phone near the unit. It read the serial number and then asked for the PIN. I put it in and it shelf opened ! Confused, but happy. My only issue is that it comes with the upgraded LED motion activated light bar. I put it in and it's a roll of the dice if it works. I have to hit the light for it to go on. Contacting MFG. Also, they recommend replacing the batteries it ships with. My recommendation is to do this BEFORE you mount cause it's a "B" to get the batteries out ! Should have put a battery ribbon to pop them out. 1 more thing. When cutting out the gun on the foam, do not press the gun into the foam and use a marker. This created a larger hole and the gun flops. (I actually just ordered another foam cause of this - $15.00) For the 2nd gun, I used a ball point pen, traced the gun and then cut the inside part of the trace which allowed the 2nd gun to fit snug and making me push it into the foam to secure. And I only cut half way into the foam. You can see what I mean in the Video, left gun good, right gun a GAP Great Shelf, might buy another one

Beautiful shelf with excellent concealment
Love this shelf. The 3nd one I have bought. Looks beautiful and has great concealment of my tactical gear. Had a small issue, but the great customer service took immediate care of it.

Before I found these I tried to order from Timber Vault, but got the run around from them....
I bought 6 of these for my family.....and so far I believe they are all working just fine....and they were very happy with them

With a few simple improvements this would be awesome
After looking over many options for handgun safe storage that would still avail the weapon in a hurry, I settled on this unit. However, I cannot...for the life of me...figure out - when construction standards see studs at 16" centers WHY this thing is not 24" across overall with an 18" mounting strip as opposed to what is sold?! It makes it infinitely more difficult to install rigidly in a trustworthy fashion. Had it been manufactured with those dimensions...the install would have been 4 holes drilled with 4 7mmx70mm "Connecting screws" and done ! That said.... I wound up using (2) 90degree "shelf peg" angle brackets...drilling for the pegs on the one end of the 16" mounting strip so as to reach the other stud...measuring back from their holes and drilling the others through the face of the mount strip where 16" on-center wound up. For the mounting I used (2)Everbuilt 7mmx70mm "Connecting screws" through the mount strip & 7mmx50mm through the Everbuilt "Angle shelf supports". All can be had at Home Depot. I then used one singular #6 105# Cobra WallDriller drywall anchor at the center of the mount strip with a 1/2" longer-than-supplied (by Cobra) screw... that I had on-hand which had an integral washer(flange) type head. It all worked out well, but I just can't grasp why one wouldn't manufacture the thing with dimensions that make sense & would make it inherently more sturdy. Also it would have been nice if the mounting screws for the gas strut had been drilled straight, as opposed to "in a hurry" as well as using proper pan head screws for that install as opposed to flat-head counter sink types. I had those 2 little pan heads on-hand, and so... changed them. Like others in these reviews...I felt there could be better foam offered and I've ordered a bag of wire anchors to put a 2nd one on the pigtail that leads to the backup power jack, since it hangs over the gun which could be an issue when you'd least want that. SO.. in closing- it's a nice product, but for the money should be upsized for easier mounting & some finesse could be employed in it's construction. With those tweaks, I think you then really have something. A P.S. When drilling for the angle brackets w/pegs one must measure 3 times and drill once- VERY carefully as you want those pegs in the end of the mount strip in as tight as humanly possible. I drilled them with a number bit (can't recall its size) that was a tad smaller than the pin itself and tapped them in with a hammer. Miraculously, I hadn't accounted for their distance apart and they were exactly edge-to-edge...so, if you do or don't want that situation- pay attention to the distance the hole centers are from one another for those pins when drilling. Also, I used only (1) 50mm "Connecting screw" since they were so close & these screws have large flat heads so I couldn't accomodate 2 of them so close to one another and wound up using a 2 1/2" decking screw for the 2nd angle bracket which I did not upsize the hole in. The "Connecting screws" are 1/4" diameter...so you'll need to upsize those angle brackets' holes BEFORE tapping them in for keeps so as not to disturb the fit once they're in, as they come with smaller holes in them. I'm no carpenter, but as a mechanic on specialized golf course maintenance equipment for 45yrs this was the solution I came up with and I hope it helps some. I suppose if you're more "wood oriented" you could rout out the back of the mounting strip for an "inset" steel strap and go that route. Lastly, I popped off the gas strut & removed the (4) backup jack mount screws as well as the (2)each mount screws from the hinges on the LOWER section of the shelf unit so I wouldn't have it hanging in the way as I did all of this & it makes for less weight to heft as you work. I drilled the (3) holes in the mounting strip from the back so they'd be straight as this is more difficult from the front. You don't want to disturb any of the upper hinge screws as they serve as alignment adjusters. Good luck with your install !

Overpriced Trash
Great in theory - poorly executed. The “buzzer setting card” doesn’t actually stop the incessant tones that this box makes - nothing tactical about that. The foam isn’t properly sized to the tray, how difficult would it be to measure it before you pack and ship your product? The hinges weren’t properly tightened or aligned, so it looks lopsided; had to fix that. The light that it comes with takes up a ton of space, as does the locking mechanism, so your usable space in the compartment is reduced significantly. Finally, the frame of the unit that mounts to the wall is exactly 16”, so you have to angle your screws to grab a stud. There’s room to make the mounting frame another 1” wider. Overall, I would NOT buy this again.

Practical, screws are just annoying
Product feels sturdy, functions wonderfully, why can another inch seriously be added to help hit 2 studs with more than 3/8 left on the ends. Also for the price why the joke of screws, throw them out and just use torx bit deck screws and save the headache. The screws sent cost a star.
