Kuhn Rikon Swiss Metal Peeler 4”, Stainless Steel

Wow, this is great. I got a cheap version last year for a gift, and it lasted a few months. This one is very well made and washes up great. I’m buying more for gifts. Very sharp, be careful.

So sharp, I don't recognize my fruits and veggies after peeling--they usually look rough, but this creates a smooth glossy surface! Very glad America's Test Kitchen tests and recommends kitchen items!

Great peeler! Probably the sharpest peeler that I have ever used. I haven't tried it on thick, tough skinned vegetables like a hard-skinned squash (like acorn or butternut squash), but it works great on the veggies that I've tried it on (cucumbers, carrots, lemons, etc.). Takes much less effort than any other peeler that I've used - it just glides through the peel. When I used it to cut strips of zest off a lemon, it did a beautiful job. Nice, wide strips. Easy to control, and it doesn't start digging into the white pith. When peeling a cucumber, there's no real drag as the peeler removes the peel - it feels almost like you're just waving your hand over the vegetable!The only negative that I have with it is that the frame/handle just doesn't feel up to the quality of the blade. I paid a little extra for the metal version (I looked at the plastic ones in a cooking supply store, and they just seemed too disposable, reminding me of the free toy you get in a fast food Happy Meal...), but it's just a thin, stamped piece of cheap sheet metal. I don't know if they're designed this way because they're meant to be the equivalent of a disposable razor, or for some other reason, but I do feel that a blade this good deserves a much nicer frame/handle.

Fabulous tool! Definitely a great value for my money. The speed I can peel my fruits and vegetables is great, easy to clean, the size is good and is thick and sturdy. Fun for me to use on such a boring task.

And not a very good one. After 3 peels on the first potato, the damned razor flipped off. I put it back on but it kept coming off. Cheaply made, dreadful performance.

I do like this product, and the price I paid was good. It peels very well, and my spouse really likes it. She'd probably rate it an extra star. The reason I only give it three is because it hurts my hand to use because of the handle. The handle looks like a stamped piece of metal with edges that are rounded on one side and sharp on the other which is the 'hollow' side. At this price point, asking for a solid handle of the same size is probably out, but that's what it would take for me to enjoy using this. Actually, I won't use it because it's so uncomfortable in my hands (smallish male hands) even as it feels very comfortable to my spouse's smaller hands. Should you buy it? In my view, it's worth a shot. It's very sharp, but it may totally not work for you, so be forewarned.
