This shoe cream color is camel. It has a slight green hue to it when you open the bottle, however, that is normal. It doesn't look green when you apply the cream.

"Dark Brown" is closer to black in my opinion (edit: May have been mislabeled)
Edit: A commenter noted that they received a container of black/dark grey that was mislabeled dark brown, and that may very well be what happened to me (with 2 containers no less). So take the following review concerning the dark brown with a grain of salt.I'm pretty new to shoe polish, so apologies if the following is common knowledge. I got the Dark Brown polish specifically for these: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AZPP1PO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 which, to me, are dark brown. One might even say they're very dark brown. When I received the polish, it struck me how almost-black it looks (I did confirm that both containers I bought read "Dark Brown" on the label), but you know, I thought, we'll see. I know the process is quite straightforward, but I still sought instruction beforehand to avoid any regretful mistakes, so I'm pretty sure I did it at least mostly right. Applied sparingly & evenly, let dry, etc. The result is that the shoes are now nearly black, in any light. Outside of that however, the polish seems quite nice, and I've since ordered some cleaner & a few lighter shades, so we'll see how that goes.I've included photos that will hopefully help anyone else who's trying to decide whether to get Medium Brown, Brown, Dark Brown, or Fashion Brown. Note that the shoes aren't as black as they appear in the photo, but they're very close.Update: Removed the Dark Brown polish, applied Brown, shoes are now a deep, rich shade of very dark brown. Still darker than they started, but not black. Photo added.

Recalled item!
Johnson and Johnson bought Meltonian and then ruined the cream by making it "environmentally friendly." Some colors were spoiled--including the dark brown which looks more like a greenish black. They eventually shut down the brand and recalled the stock.I wouldn't trust the quality of the remainders that are being sold now.

No more Meltonian, limited old supply may affect quality of current stocks.
Warning! If you have used this good quality company for the last 40 years, you should know that inventory is disappearing and getting old in its pigment. If your color doesn't match the meltonian color chart, most likely you have OLD POLISH. Beware in buying this online without checking the tone/tint of the color first.I received a dark brown with the same model number of an old jar/can I had. The color was off by a large margin.Meltonian sold the company about 5-6 years ago, and Johnson wax bought it. They determined that it was unprofitable to try to make the solvents in the ingredients more green friendly. So Johnson killed the product. I will have to search for another polish manufacturer.. Sad to see this company go the way of the dodo.

Beware of manufacturing defects
I recently ordered three different colors of Meltonian shoe cream: #140 Fashion Brown, #10 Dark Brown, and #41 Dusky Brown, from various Amazon sellers. The Fashion Brown was fine, but the Dark Brown and Dusky Brown were both dark greenish-grey, which I believe is a manufacturing error. It appears that Meltonian was purchased by Johnson and Johnson, and they seem to be having some manufacturing problems. When I contacted the sellers of the latter two colors they checked and found that the jars they had in stock contained grey (instead of brown) cream. They both refunded my money -- which is nice for me but kind of sucks for them.I also noticed that the contents of all three jars were "creamy", when in years past the product was more of a thick paste. I hope this is not a sign of a cost-cutting effort.I have used Meltonian products happily and successfully for many years, but it looks like at least for awhile one should be cautious about one's expectations.

Defective Product: Dark Brown is Actually Green/Grey
I am highly disappointed with this product and seller (Insole Dept). I ordered a dark brown shoe cream but received what appears to be green or grey cream. I realized that I can neither return nor contact this seller. Despite the negligible price, I will seek for refund in every way possible. It doesn't make sense to ship a defective/wrong product to a customer while absolving yourself from any responsibility.I will not recommend the dark brown cream to anyone. I don't know about other products you'll be disappointed if you ignore this caution. What a way to ruin my plans!

Meltonin Light-Brown Shoe Cream is UGLY UGLY UGLY!
I generally like Meltonian shoe polish, but as others have said, the light-brown color (006) is gawdawful, more of a greenish yellow with only minimal brown tones — meconium comes to mind. Fortunately I smeared a bit on a a paper towel before applying it to my new Cole Haan British Tan Wingtips, which it would have ruined. I returned it for a refund and instead used Angelus Light Brown shoe polish, which was much better for those shoes (although the Angelus made the shoes a tad darker, which was fine with me).

Magic!
Wow! I have a 15 year old that is rough with his shoes. Bought him a pair of Johnson and Murphy and boy was I shocked how rough he is with them. He attends a private school and wears a uniform and his dress shoes everyday. Oh, yea, he loves to play basketball in them at school too. On pavement. Yes, that can be rather frustrating as a mother, however, this polish is magic. It turns his beat up shoes into something right out the box at a shoe store. I apply the polish with a brush (bought on Amazon too) and used a shine brush after it dries (bought on Amazon too) . I attached a photo to see the difference between one I just polished and the other not. Hope you enjoy as much as I do! The color was 093 sandlewood.

Will purchase again!
I purchased the medium brown for my husbands leather boots and his nice work shoes. I was very torn while deciding what color to buy. The meltonian website has a color chart that I found to be helpful. But, it is difficult to judge by a picture on a screen. The medium brown proved to be perfect for all of our brown leather shoes. It matches perfectly with any mid brown color. It perfectly shined and cleaned his scuffed work boots to look great again! I will be ordering more soon. One small tub leashes through 3 pairs of nice shoes and 2 pairs of boots

Great for restoring footwear with scuffs in
I bought this after looking for a restorative product for shoes & boots. This is a great product and well worth it for restoring footwear. Scuffed boots look like new again and mine were well scuffed. I also used it to restore the black colour to other footwear with great results. A little goes a long way. Will buy again.
