Great for Junior Golfers
My 9-year old daughter has recently gotten into competitive golf through US Kids. When I ordered this book, she saw it and asked what it was. I explained to her what the book is about and she said, “Can I read it?”I said, “Well, it’s a book that’s intended for grown ups. I will read it and that will help me coach you better.”She says, “I think I would rather read it for myself,” so I gave it to her, but figured she would forget about it. However, my wife and I kept seeing her reading it at night. So, a few days later, I asked her how the book was. She said it was great, and so I asked, “Well, what are you learning from it?”She said, “I need to look at my notes.” To which I replied, “You have notes?!”So, she brings out this 3-ring binder (picture attached) to show me the notes she’s made on each chapter. My wife and I were blown away, as we’ve never seen her so interested and self-motivated with something. This book is helpful to golfers of all ages!

Focus/Fun/Mindfulness
I have read both the books by Jon Sherman and was most interested in the Winning Golf as I am trying to get my index low enough to play in USGA Senior Qualifiers. His writing style is straight forward and very understandable which makes it quite easy to apply to my game and feel anyone else wanting to try competitive golf. If this were around when I was 45 years younger I may have kept with the sport back then. Alas, I am tackling it now. I have had issues finishing a good round and found Chapter 16 most helpful. You can be serious about the competition, but don't be so serious you do not have fun. That is what I found over the last two years. The more fun I am having, the more relaxed I play, and that ends up with better shot selection and results. Thank you Jon and keep up the good work; podcasts with Adam and guests, books, guest appearances on Chasing Scratch etc. LGLG.

For golfers of all levels
A fantastic follow up to his first book, Jonathan shines again in his ability to relate to golfers of all skill levels through radical honesty about his own growth and struggles in the game.A very enjoyable read and a resource for all golfers that are looking to play competitively. Whether for a district championship, A member guest or a Sunday morning Nassau, the lessons in this book are relatable and actionable.

Great Read, Immediately Useful!
I recommend this book for anyone who playsGolf, regardless of skill level or whether of not you play competitively. It’s a fantastic read with practical advice that can immediately be applied to your game. I read this the week before my Member/Guest tournament, and ended up winning the whole thing! Everything from preparation, expectations, how to react (or not react) to competitor’s shots, and how to be relentless when bad golf happens have been valuable for me. I also enjoyed how Jon shared his own personal experiences, which made his points more relatable.

Great guide to the mental side of competitive golf
As I’ve learned the hard way, for most golfers there’s a huge gap between your performance on the range and your performance on the course. And when you add in competition - even just a Skins game with your buddies - your performance is likely to go down even farther. But as Sherman expertly explains, it doesn’t have to be that way. He provides very practical advice for how to maintain a positive attitude / mindset in the midst of what could be stressful competition. And it works - I just defeated my brother in match play for the first time ever after reading this book!

This book should not have been published! Jon you can do better...
Let me start by saying I am a HUGE Jon Sherman fan. His book The Four Foundations of Golf is among the best golf books I've ever read. I own it in paper and digital as well as buying six copies for friends and associates. Buy THAT book! This book is quite bland and basic. Example: How to find golf tournaments?? "Ask around"...wow, insightful. It would have been a good blog post or great podcast. But as a thin standalone book for $25, it is a big disappointment. I can only think that Jon's publicist was urging, "Jon your other book is selling great. We must publish now while you're hot. Just throw something, anything together." This is a horrible follow-up to an amazing book. You just duffed one into the water after striping an amazing tee shot...time to refocus. Jon, you can do better and I fully expect you to do so in the future. I'm really disappointed but still a fan.
