Performed to spec.
Works as it should. Good value. And it was in good condition when it arrived, not like a couple of years ago when half of these would arrive in pieces.

Impressive!
The media could not be loaded. I’m very excited out this product! I’m a big fan of these strainers and they are so much less expensive that the traditional strainers! The tops seal very well, and the stepped hose connect is great for compatibility! My only recommendation is to install them at a 45 deg angle so Little Rock’s/sand/etc… stay in the bowl and don’t go down the suction line. Overall I am very excited to see how these perform!

Ability to accomodate 1/2" to 3/4" hoses
Nice that you can trim one side to 3/4" to accommodate the line coming in from the seacock and then cut the other side to 1/2" or 5/8", whichever is required by your seawater pump.On the down side, having those options makes this strainer tall, so make sure you have room in your bilge, not just for the strainer, but for a gentle bend in the hoses without kinking.Lastly, the instructions say this strainer is to be mounted above the waterline. I'm guessing that many times it is not. Although it is briefly mentioned in the instructions, I think it should be emphasized that silicon grease MUST be applied to the O-ring when installed and each time the strainer is cleaned. That helps ensure a watertight seal.

cap did not seal at first
it's imperative that the filter seals to insure that air does not get into the cooling system. i took some fine sandpaper and lightly smoothed the filter surface at the cap. the cap was almost impossible to loosen from the new filter!! it should not take a lot of effort when screwing the lid on. make sure to coat the threads and gasket with silicon grease as specified by the instructions.

Great for filtering debris from a water line
Who is this on the water line leading to a marine air conditioner. The water is pulled from the lake so this would filter out any debris before it got to the AC unit.

Cap shattered but didn’t notice until after it was installed
The cap broke first day. For a product that is used for water intake straining on a boat, this is a huge liability. If Cap breaks and you don’t notice your boat potentially sinks.

Nice strainer
This is a really nice strainer. It being plastic removes the possibility of salt corrosion. The gasket can be a little tricky to keep in place while installing the top, but this will probably be easier as the gasket gets compressed into place.Visibility is good, and it is easy to see if the strainer needs cleaning and also easy to see that there is good water flow. The only clear part being on top does pose a slight problem if you are forced to install it with the top-down view obstructed.
