Slightly larger than the original at 50mm diameter (all new synchronous motors seem to that size same size) but easily fits, just drill a couple of 2mm holes for the self tapping screws in the centre of the fixing tabs. The motor can rotate either way when switched on but that makes no difference, the 10-12 rpm speed is more important. Getting to the motor is a pain on a Dimplex. On mine, you have to take the top off first, slide out the glass screen then the log moulding. That gives you access to the motor assembly. Getting to the motor electrical connectors involves taking off an access panel on the back and the left side panel (and legs). This is not for the feint hearted, but anyone used to dismantling appliances like this won’t have a problem ( but you will curse at Dimplex!).

Although its listed as CW/CCW it does start in the CWW direction more often. Bought this as replacement for a dimplex fire effect motor as couldn’t get the original, it does a great job apart from start up direction but that’s not really the fault of the motor, tad on the noisy side compared with the original one.

Delivery was very early! Got next day delivery despite only paying for free delivery which was expected between 3-5 days. Partner easily managed to take out our old motor on our electric fire which had stopped working, easily replaced with this one, have had it running now for 3 days and it's fantastic, very quiet. Only downside is that it is a clockwise and anti clockwise rotation motor, meaning sometimes when turning it on the flames go downwards rather than up, but just switching the switch once or twice more fixes it so no bother at all. Very happy.

Perfect replacement for the one in my fireplace that had seized up. Have given it 3 stars because after a few days it became noisy.

Excellent little motor working great

Buying again for my flame effect fire, as the gearbox on the earlier replacement (2019) sounds like a robot chewing bolts for lunch. I've found they never run as quiet as you'd like (my home is very quiet, so I pick up on such things). In the past I have tried mounting the motor on rubber bushes, drilling a tiny hole and injecting light watch oil and ensuring the connected shaft is properly aligned. Given that the motor itself (depending on the gearing, I'm guessing 20:1) has spun, I estimate, some 525.6 million revolutions, given my usage, then it is a pretty fair bit of kit.

Used to replace the flicker motor in my Dimplex heater after receiving no help from Dimplex service department. A good substitute for the original motor.
