The Black Pennell trout fly was devised in the nineteenth century by H. Cholmondeley Pennell, the Black Pennell is particularly popular in the remoter waters of the Highlands. Commonly fished as a bob fly, it is especially good early in the fishing season when black midges are hatching. Its a versatile pattern also a very good loch fly.

Nicely tied good quality flies
Caught several large brownies on a fishing trip to Scotland. The flies survive multiple takes and casts quite well.
