Robust SS & Brass Bi-valve
Hefty rascal! I attached this hefty Y-Valve a few moments after the Amazon driver dropped it off. At $41 I needed to test drive this thing while the packaging awaits to return a leaky and dysfunctional boat anchor, if my optimism morphed into disappointment. Before I attached the new Underhill valve to my frostless faucet, I throughly wire brushed the faucet male threads so they were gleaming like new. I reseated the faucet washer (which was not necessary but did it anyway) into the female port and hand-snugged the Y Valve to the faucet…used no pliers! I swiveled the quarter turn levers 90 degrees to the off position…then turned on and off both levers and had no leaks. So far so good. The levers were easy to move and shut off water with minimal effort, easy does it. Next, I cleaned the hose make threads with the wire brush and attached to the exit ports, but had to use pliers to snug-up ever so gently the hose to the Y outlet port. Again, no leaks after I snugged-up (I tightened the connection until the leak stopped and tightened no further) the hose to the valve. So, am delighted and will get another one today. Trick is to clean threads on hoses and faucets before hooking up the valve…if the threads are not spotless, leaks will occur. Great Y Valve…highly recommend.

Heavy housing but thin non-replaceable connector
This is a heavy duty splitter and the components are well-fashioned, the main housing is thick cast brass and the valves seem to fit very well, handles are easy to manipulate. Only issue is the nut that connects the splitter to the spigot is thin, not heavy duty, and unlike other splitters is not held in place via a bolt that can be unscrewed from the inside allowing the nut to be replaced. So I'm worried that with a hard freeze the metal will fail. I've had this happen before with a cheaper splitter and water spewed for several hours from between the spigot and splitter. I would be a bit worried about buying this splitter for an area with occasionally unpredictable drops in temp.Update: I am reducing my rating to one star because, despite the thickness and weight of the splitter housing, the collar indeed failed after less than half a year of light use. We had some cold weather but the spigot was off and hose had been drained. Anyway the metal exposed in the break is certainly not brass but some thin low quality cast white metal. Don't waste your money on this.

Great valve.
This is a very high quality valve. . . I used two of these to add an additional washing machine upstairs from our basement supply lines, so we were looking for a valve of superb craftsmanship so we wouldn't be surprised by a leaking situation behind the existing washer. . . This is top quality!- highly recommend
