Great meat fork
My son smokes and BBQs all the meats. This made a great birthday gift for him. He loves the heavy weight of it and the bull ring is classic!!

Received it today.
I bought two as gifts. They are bigger and heavier than I thought. They also look like weapons in old martial art's movies. Should work well in their purpose.

Please ladies, don't take offence. This is BIG. It fits well in my "man" hand and balances nicely. I had just finished carving up a smoked brisket and I always say "I wish I had a better way of holding this". I use the usual long-tined carving fork to hold the meat while slicing. You know, the kind that comes with the carving knife? I think that is really meant more for turning steaks, etc on the grill or passing out meat that is already sliced, not so much for the actual carving off the big roast. With those long-tined forks, I always have an issue in that the meat tends to roll as you're cutting and you end up pushing the fork in as far as it will go (usually till it hits the board) to keep the meat from twisting while cutting. I had never seen something like this "El Matador" before and thought "THAT'S what I need". FIrst thing: I have not had a chance to try this on a piece of meat yet BUT my first impressions are "this is what I've been looking for". You can see from the pics it is one big piece of metal (406gm/14.3 oz) which is almost a pound of metal. It has two long SHARP points (with temporary plastic plugs to cover those points) and two shorter prongs (no plugs). The metal itself appears to be burnished aluminum but the weight indicates that there is some heavier metal under the exterior if in fact this is aluminum. It comes with a drawstring bag for storage. There is a copper (?) "nose ring" that appears to be purely decorative. I mentioned I would use it for slicing brisket. It will also be very useful for slicing prime rib as well. Fowl like turkey? Maybe not so much as it depends on how one slices a big bird. I think this would not work well with fowl, only red meat roasts. As far as shredding? I don't think this is what you want. As everything is straight up and down, the angle on the blades isn't right for shredding. Plus you'd need two of these and there are better products out there for shredding (pork butt for example). I do have a place to store it. It is 7" long and almost 5" wide so a drawer is best. Don't think I'd want to hang it by the nose ring...but obviously the choice is yours. If you're into needing something to hold BIG hunks o' meat while carving, this is way better than your standard "carving" fork. 5*

The first thing I noticed about this carving fork was its weight. It has some heft to it. It feels solid in my hand. The next thing I noticed was the toro/bull theme. From the name “El Matador” to the art deco-style shape of the fork with the top of the handle forming the horns, the base of the handle forming the face and a ring through the nose, the entire fork gives off the sense of strength and “strong as a bull”. The fork has four tines with two longer tines on the outside and two shorter tines on the inside. Make no mistake about it, once you grip your roast (or whatever meat you’ve cooked) with this fork, “it ain’t goin’ nowhere”. The fork holds the food solidly in place which allows you to control your slicing and carving. In fact, I found using this fork lengthwise along the roast I cooked held it in place much better than the carving fork I used for decades which needed to be used widthwise as it only had two tines. This fork definitely commands attention. Everyone seated at the table commented on the fork. They said it was quite unique and had never seen anything like it. When I told them the name “El Matador” and held the fork so they could see the “bull”, they were even more impressed. The fork comes with two small tine covers for the longer, outside tines. It also comes with a bag for safe storage. I thought at first that I would use the “nose ring” to hang it and also considered my magnetic knife board/stand but, honestly, I don’t want to take the chance of accidentally stabbing myself on the tines. So, the fork will be stored in a drawer in the storage bag but I will look for something to use as a guard and will try to be certain that the tines always point inward. If you have ever struggled with a traditional two-tined carving fork or had a piece of meat slide on a plate or cutting board, then I encourage you to try this El Matador meat carving fork. You will not regret it. *One photo from listing was "borrowed" to clearly show the bull face

Boy is this thing huge! And heavy! Now, don't take that as a complaint, I was just thinking it'd be smaller than it is because I didn't check the listing photos ahead of time. First and foremost, I love this carving fork. It's beefy, heavy — which means heavy-duty and unlikely to break — and seriously cool looking. I see it as a conversation piece, or maybe a little bit of an accent piece if you've got the right decor or mood going for it. Why bother with a smaller or more generic carving fork when you want to send a message (even if just to yourself) that you're all about that beef (or pork, or poultry, or whichever!) and you're ready to grab like by the horns! Or something... It's certainly comfortable in the hand between the index and middle fingers, and it does a fantastic job of holding down whatever you need to cut. I'm not really a roast kind've guy, not before, and not now that it's just me, but this was fantastic for a really thick pork chop I fried up the other day. There really isn't anything to find fault with here. It works, it's heavy, it's hefty, and it looks good. If you're interested in a piece like this, maybe you want to give it for a gift or you know someone who wants to inject a little personality into their meat-carving. I'm sure you could find plain, boring meat forks for a lot cheaper, but they wouldn't look or feel like this one. 5/5, it's cool and meant for a certain crowd that appreciate the aesthetics. Would recommend as a gift, whether gag or otherwise, if you know someone who does a lot of grilling, roasting, or smoking and feels like a cowboy, baby!
