The Reading Strategies Book 2.0: Your Research-Based Guide to Developing Skilled Readers

This is a great resource! Each strategy includes a teacher lesson, guiding questions, teacher tips, research/facts as to why each strategy is helpful along. There are over 300 strategies to support reading K-12! A fantastic resource for teachers of any age. My one negative is that many of the images are elementary and why on earth she didn’t hire a graphic artist to do her strategy posters, I’ll never understand. The images included looked hand drawn, simplistic and not like something that would engage learners or have them want to see the anchor chart as useful or engaging.

I used this book for a reading pedagogy class. I highly recommend it to any elementary educator! It is up to date, giving strategies that work with the science of reading. I don’t care to keep a lot of textbooks, but this one will stay in my personal library so I can reference it.

The book is systematic and well categorised so that I can easily look up for a teaching strategy/activity according to the skill in focus. It's also fantastic that the book is leveled according to skill/capability, rather than year level/age, because I was unfamiliar with the American reading level systems that was used in this title's first edition.

Another great resource from Seravallo. Lots of practical ideas which can be immediately used in the classroom. Similar to the last book, but updated to reflect current knowledge in the Science of Reading

I had the original version of this book and use it often, so was not sure I needed 2.0. I was wrong. 2.0 is an amazing update- so much research referenced and new thinking added. This is a book with lots of embedded PD, while still being very accessible to teachers. The format and illustrations are captivating and the lessons I have already tried out from the book have been so helpful. You need this book!
