Razor sharp, effortless cuts, this thing makes you feel skilled
I’ve used Western-style hand saws my whole life, but this Japanese Ryoba saw changed the game for me. It cuts clean, fast, and with way less effort. The pull-stroke design took about 30 seconds to get used to, and now I don’t want to go back. The rip side chews through hardwood like maple without binding, and the crosscut side leaves buttery smooth edges that barely need sanding. I used it for tenon shoulders, trimming dowels, even flush-cutting, it's precise and super easy to control. The blade is flexible but not flimsy, and the teeth are scary sharp out of the box. I’ve been using it for about a month and haven’t needed to sharpen it yet.If you're even thinking about getting into hand tool work, this is one of the best tools you can start with. Zero regrets.

Delivered as advertised, great tool.
My old flat saws had finally given up a busy life, so reluctantly I ordered this Suizan Ryoba Double edge saw. This thing is a cutting beast. I've clung to my old saws like lifelong friends and at 70 years old and doing woodworking for most of them, I realized I've been putting forth way too much effort in sawing with my badly worn flat saws. When I put the Suizan to wood, I was put back at how effortless and swiftly the saw went through hardwood. My old saws were beginning to drift off square a tad, but the new Suizan Ryoba slipped throught the wood with ease and perfectly square every cut. This saw is a value, is extremely sharp and cuts true. Buy one of these things. I think it deserves a Haiku,Saw saw so swiftlyDust of wood to earth rainingAwe the masters hand.

Good enough but consider single blades
I have a Z rip-saw with original blade I've kept alive with occasional acid baths since 2014, which is by far the best saw I've ever owned. But it's dulling, and I couldn't get a blade replacement overnight. This was available overnight so I figured I'd try something different.I see no problems with the sharpness, did what I need it to do. Cuts walnut like butter and rosewood like walnut. One thing I do like with the double blade is the wood types and grain directions of my glue-ups get crazy and flipping to the other blade quickly if I get stuck is super helpful. The downside is on a tight cut, it gets stuck by the opposing teeth finding their way into grain on occasion. It's also a slightly shorter stroke. Safety also. I'll definitely use it, but slowly get a new rip blade and buy a separate cross-cut saw. (honestly, the rip blade usually does the job, why I never originally acquired a cross-cut)I do have an issue with initial setup. The blade bolt was sent tightened way too much. It's a Philips on one side and slot on the other, but given there is originally no blade, it was tightened such that the bolt protrudes into the slot. So how do you unscrew the bolt? The whole assembly just spins, and you can't get a flat-head into the slot to hold it steady. I found a scrap of metal that fit well enough into one corner of the slot that I was finally able to unscrew the bolt but about broke my fingers doing so.

Hermosa herramienta japonesa
Me ha gustado bastante la sierra japonesa, es muy larga jaja pensaba que era más pequeña, pero bueno, es de mucha utilidad, ya que puedes hacer cortes al raz sin dañar la madera.

Buy the unassembled version
Nice saw. The more expensive version is just assembled which is stupid.
