The Abyss: The Abyss Ultimate Collector's Edition 4K [Includes Blu-ray and Digital Copy] - 3 Disc Set

I Have wanted a Bluray version of this for a very long time.

I had this on the old Laserdisc format, but the director's cut had not been available until now. it's a great presentation and a still highly entertaining movie.

If you're only going to own one copy of this movie, it needs to be in 4k.

Excellent 4k release loved the extras

This, along with True Lies, Aliens, and Titanic, all received lazy AI upscales with obvious artifacting and little to no use of HDR and wide color gamut. We waited decades for updates or to have these films in high definition home media at all and this is what we got for our wait? The Abyss had a more filmic presentation in 2008 on Dish Network. It's the one that also uses wide color gamut the best but still drops the ball in use of AI to oversharp in some shots, smooth grain too much in others, wildly misinterpret facial textures usually, and conjures flashbacks to mushroom trips with pixels crawling around the frame.These should be recalled, but I know the best you can do is releasing them again in a few years and still getting it wrong.
