Great ice cream maker
TLDR - If you have the space and want professional grade icecream or sorbet from well made sturdy kit buy it! Ok now that's out of the way let's start with the negatives. Firstly it is large and it is heavy if that's an issue then arguably avoid ANY ice-cream machine. The only other potential downside is no gelato setting (I don't care so ๐คทโโ๏ธ) my only real gripe is a loud finish beep would be handy and yeah that's it now for the pros after 16 Liters of both ice-cream and sorbets and I am stunned at how good this is. Once you have mix ready it takes a maximum of 1hr if fridge cold for 2 liters of fantastically smooth ice cream. You can set time yourself (I do) or let run for full 60mins i would advise keeping an eye first few times so you know how long yours takes then use that number for next time you use same mi as it can be much less if you do smaller batch or split my 2l base below for multi flavours. I also find it easier to remove just before hard set as easier to remove plastic mixer (if stuck DO NOT FORCE IT) use silicone spatula (NO METAL) to remove ice cream to put in tubs. Rince in sink dry entirely and you are done cleaning It's easy to use, clean and has basically three modes. 1) make ice cream 2) mix only 3)keep cold and trust me that's all you need. Mix is perfect to add in stuff one nearly ready Jen and Berry's style below I have added how I make ice-cream and it worked perfectly, feel free to use as a base. For ice cream recipe go on BBC good food for Ultimate vanilla ice cream remove vanilla and double this for just under 2liter ice-cream mix is less as it expands DO NOT USE 2 LITERS OF LIQUID) is the perfect base mix for you to add flavour (double espresso from pod etc, just saying). The only real pressure point is not adding eggs to too hot mix (we don't want scrambled eggs). Relax take your time it's worth it. I make mix day before and cover with cling film on surface (no skin this way) n fridge for sorbets experiment you can literally use ANY fruit blended (tinned, frozen etc) with water and sugar. If it comes out grainy /icy it's due to low sugar bonus just melt add sugar and it's fixed ๐ Thank you for reading this far

Works as you would expect
Love this machine but I would like to say that the metal the bucket is made up of does scratch easily but otherwise a very nice product indeed.

Loving this machine!
I absolutely love this machine! I have grandchildren and Iโm also trying to reduce toxic load; so Iโm making more treats at home. This allows me to make batches back-to-back. I usually use 600ml of double cream, a can of condensed milk, some vanilla extract and go from there (fruit, cookies, cake etc). The possibilities are endless and with this, I can have a couple of flavours done in an hour and a half. A couple of tips; * donโt over whip or over blend your base if using double cream; itโs likely to โbreakโ in the machine. Instead, just whip to soft peaks and fold from them on * DO NOT put the churn in warm. If youโve just made a batch and are washing between batches, even if you wash with warm water, RINSE WITH COLD WATER until it is COLD again and DRY THOROUGHLY. If itโs slightly warm or if thereโs any moisture on the outside of the churn, the condensation/moisture will freeze the churn in the machine and you wonโt be able to get it out for ages. *make sure itโs DRY between uses, to avoid mould Iโm loving this machine and Iโm having so much fun!!

How use simple version
Bought on impulse mainly as it has the advantage of having a built in compressor / built in freezer Put simply no need to pre freeze equipment or produce. You can use this with pre Bought ice cream mix which I did for convenience also to ensure correct consistency until I became more confident with the machine and had resourced ingredients and recipe etc. To start After unboxing and reading manual. You are advised to quickly wash the inner bowl-basket it tells you to be absolutely sure you dry the equipment well to avoid it sticking to the machine. Once assembled back in machine, switch power on It flash 00. Then default to the icecream ๐ฆ program which is 60 mins, you have to press start etc. Once the program ie the icecream 60 mins complete it then beeps 3 times before then default to chill for 30 mins best to leave the chill cycle to complete. So ideal 1.5 hours for best results. There is also a program that's just mix/stir the manual not clear but I presume you select this when mixing in additional ingredients like nuts or fruit which you can do 2 mins before program ends or if you forget and it's already default to chill you can change program to mix/stir then back to chill if you wish. The paddle is only plastic so any nuts or fruit you add needs to be really small or ideally pulp-puree Otherwise the consistency will not be correct or the paddle will " trigger" or motor over heat etc. The icecream freezes-cools firstly from the areas touching the metal and base and is more softer-whipped consistency in the middle. As initially I thought it was too soft but when it had finished the chill cycle it was more frozen especially those areas. Making removal of paddle impossible you have to spoon out the ice cream then eventually removal of paddle possible. I used 1 litre pre made ice cream mix which made or filled a 2 litre tub of ice cream I think that's were people are going wrong saying it's not a 2 litre machine! Overall so far very pleased with the purchase plus I got it on a special deal price. Not sure what aftershaves service like eg if fault but usually everything covered by warranty unless you haven't followed correct process etc.

Ok but very noisy
What a shame this machine is so noisy when mixing the product, I could not use it and stay in the same room as the noise became too intense ! It works perfectly and made wonderful ice cream, itโs such a shame the gearbox for the mixer is so noisy as you can hardly hear the refrigeration system in operation ! If they could sort out the noise then this machine would be a perfect addition to any household wanting to make ice cream. If they can sort out the noisy gearbox then I would be very happy to try it out again !!

It's not 2 litres - review of marketing, packaging, and instructions
These comments refer to the ice-cream maker's marketing, packaging, and instructions only as I've just washed the removal parts in preparation for making the first batch of ice cream. I have high expectations. However, some things you may want to be aware of: - Capacity. The device is marketed as "2L" - this is misleading. The bucket is more like 1.7L filled to the absolute brim - and you'd never want to do that. The included recipes are all for around 1L of ingredients (which will expand during freezing), so don't plan on mixing up two litres. - Instructions. There's a mention of a maximum fill line - there is no line anywhere on the bucket. I'm betting it should be somewhere around the 1L level. - Recipe leaflet. Extremely limited and a very poor translation, with inconsistent terminology (light cream or whipping cream? And what is "pure milk"? Is that full fat, skimmed, or an indication that it should be dairy not a non-dairy product?) - Packaging and shipping. All recyclable external packaging (brilliant!) but still plastic used to protect the internals (not so brilliant). - Components. The paddle looks like cheap plastic and I'm a bit concerned that it will become brittle on freezing - time will tell. I just hope there will be a replacement available if/when it breaks. Value for money? In comparison to other ice cream makers (and to the Ninja Creami, which is NOT an ice cream maker) it's a deal. Now to test it in operation! UPDATE: After using twice to make ice cream. 1) The instructions forget to tell you to press the Start/Stop button BEFORE selecting the program (instead, they tell you not to switch the machine off as you'll have to wait three minutes to restart it). I was prodding unsuccessfully at the SET button trying to choose the program, thinking it wasn't working. 2) The first time I used it, the paddle stopped moving about half way through. I suspect this was because I put the paddle in place and then added the mix (it's a lot easier to seat it that way), but I am not sure. The second time, I followed the instructions and put the mix into the bucket first and then the paddle (quite tricky because you can't see where to place it). This time it kept turning, though eventually the clear lid worked itself loose and started rattling. 3) I suspect I didn't mix my custard and single cream well enough, because one part of the ice cream froze harder than the rest. I'm still concerned that the plastic parts won't stand the test of time - I'd much prefer if it had a metal paddle and moving parts, but you get what you pay for. I'm keeping the rating at three stars as the instructions are severely deficient, the recipes very limited (and don't seem to match the capacity of the machine), and because of the doubts about the plastic bits.

Amazing maker!
Not a day goes by without sorbet or ice-cream now. This maker is brilliant and, forthe price, you can't go wrong. Mix up your base and throw it in, press go, and 60 mins later you have beautifully frozen ice cream or sorbet that tastes amazing. So easy to use and clean.

Amazing ice cream
So pleased with our ice cream machine and how simple it is to use. The ice cream is all ready in an hour and itโs great thinking of all different flavours and ingredients to use and it can all be healthy too.
