These products are marketed more towards seniors, but let me tell you, there's an untapped market of athletes waiting for this breakthrough. I am a fulltime professional boxing coach, I hold mitts and I am on my feet and physical all day long. I am also an actively competing boxer in my mid thirties now, with an intense training schedule. I suffer from chronic injuries to my shoulder, back, you-name-it. My body has a lot of mileage. My wife convinced me to spend the money on a better massage gun, than the one we bought years ago, which has been doing the job to take some of the muscle tightness out of me so I can sleep, and so we can stay away from injury, but by afternoon the next day I'd need to do it again. She did some research and found this, hoping the heated head would actually do something for some of my muscle tightness at the end of the day. I can't believe what a difference this gun has made after a single use. I came home last night after cancelling half of my work day because of low back pain. This gun was waiting for me on the doorstep and we busted it open, charged it for an hour and then started it up. The quality is amazing, the case is great for transport and keeping everything together. Inside is a nice booklet from Bob and Brad who are physical therapists and they have little charts and illustrations for common injuries and ways to use the gun to help! Highly educational, and very informative. Really put their best foot forward with their product. It really showed how much they cared about educating and sharing their experience and know-how with the average man. Highly appreciate that. The heat was surprising at first, I was never worried it would burn me, but it was a great level to really feel it. The machinery of the gun itself must be made of good high quality materials, because it never stalled out and my wife could really just use the weight of the gun itself to get to the trouble areas. She doesn't have to push. With that being said, primarily, she is the one using the gun on me; I believe this would be quite difficult to use one-handed if you were not a particularly fit individual trying to use it on yourself. It is pretty hefty, but there are different models by this maker that are probably better for one handed use. The actual feel of it on my body is a lot like a powerful jacuzzi jet-stream. It was weird to feel that vibration and the heat without getting wet! My wife said she was shocked to feel the knots relax so quickly, where it would take us minutes at a time previously, the heat cuts down the working time into seconds. She hasn't experimented with the different modes yet because I really prefer low settings in general. Took us a few minutes to figure out how two buttons could scroll through the settings, play with speed and turn it on and off but it's easy to use out of the box. The pain in my back was gone with a few careful passes of the heated tip. In a capitalist hellscape the world is becoming, it's so refreshing to come across a company founded by two hands-on experts in their field, developing a tool to actually benefit injured or people in discomfort and not trying to make a buck off us. The booklet itself really set that tone, and the price pointed locked in their good intentions. At first I thought it was weird a product like this had two human names on it, instead of some catchy/edgy product or company name... but then I realized they're two people who developed this product and stand by it so strongly they're willing to put their names physically upon it.... I think that's really rare these days... I will be supporting Bob and Brad's products in the future and they will be first choice for anything we need going forward.

I purchased the Bob and Brad D5 Ultra Massage Gun with the Red Light Infrared Heat Head, and I was impressed right from the start. It arrived with about 75% battery, and I only needed 20–30 minutes of charging before using it for the first time. Note: The infrared heat head charges separately, but it also took just about 20–30 minutes. I recommend reading the manual first — it’s simple but helpful for understanding the buttons, modes, and the correct sequence to start it (turn on the heat head first, then the massage gun). Both the massage gun and the heat head shut off automatically after 10 minutes. You’ll notice the heat turns off first, and then shortly after the gun stops. Shoulder Pain Relief My wife has a shoulder injury and that area is very sensitive. I used the default mode (M1) on the lowest speed — this device is a powerhouse. In the photo you can see how the heat head works on her shoulder. The combination of deep tissue massage and heat gave her immediate relief. I did two 10-minute sessions, and she felt a significant difference: less tension, less pain, and a deep relaxing sensation in the tissue. My Personal Experience with Quads I often deal with tight quads and muscle knots, which cause knee discomfort when I run or play soccer. I used Mode M2 early in the morning to warm up my quads before going to the gym (even though the manual suggests using M2 for post-workout relaxation). This mode cycles continuously from the lowest speed to the highest. At first it felt like the speed changes were happening too fast, but then I realized how effective the pattern is — it truly “wakes up” the muscle. My quads are usually stiff and tight, but after the session they felt completely different. Relaxed, loose, and ready to train. Honestly, this is the first massage gun that has removed knots so quickly. Other Modes M3: The opposite of M2 (cycles from fast to slow). The manual recommends this for muscle activation before training. I haven’t used it yet. M4 (“Triangle Wave Mode”): Cycles up and down in both speed and force. Interesting option for different types of warm-ups and relaxation. Conclusion This machine is extremely versatile and powerful. I plan to use it every morning before the gym, and especially on the afternoons when I play soccer to properly warm up my quads. Tight quads have always been an issue for me and usually cause knee pain. The D5 Ultra already feels like the perfect tool to improve warm-ups, mobility, and recovery. Highly recommended — especially if you want deep relief and a serious tool for muscle activation and recovery.

I just got this D5 ultra a couple days ago for the infrared technology. I already had the D6, but wanted something with heat and the infrared was something new I wanted to try. It's a lot less bulky than the D6 and easy to adjust to reach any part of your body. If I were to use this 10-15 minutes every day the battery will easily last a week, and it's very sturdy. It comes with multiple attachments for different muscles/body areas and it comes with a carrying case to hold everything so I can take it with me to work/gym. It also comes with a book to show you how to use the massager on all the different muscle groups and what attachments to use. This baby rocks and the massage hits deep and with all the speed adjustments it can be dialed in to fit whatever situation. I have plantar fasciitis and the heat/infrared seem to be helping, but it's going to be at least a few weeks before I will know the results of the infrared treatment. I'll come back and update this review after a fewer weeks. I really think this will survive all the back and forth to the gym too, it is a solid gun, and built to last a lifetime.

I have hip arthritis and the Bob and Brad D5 Pro Massage Gun has been an important part of my therapy for several months. It provides me with effective deep tissue pain relief. The gun is easy to grip and I find that I can massage both the front and the back of my legs and hip easily. The D5 has adjustable speeds, is quiet to use around the house, and is very comfortable to hold. It comes in a very well designed case making it convenient to take along when I travel. In addition to using the D5 for arthitis pain relief, I am a cyclist and find the massage gun to be excellent for relaxing my muscles after a workout. Highly recommended!
