Swing!: A Scanimation Picture Book Board book – January 1, 2008

This book is the 2nd book by Rufus Butler. It takes an old concept and brings it to life in a fun book where children can make pictures move! I say "an old concept" because this idea of moving pictures has been around for a long time; I had books similar in type when I was a child. Very cute book, lots of fun to look at. Great for 2-4 yrs.

I can’t wait until my grandson is old enough to understand it, but i’ve Shown it to 5-6 friends, who all immediately took down the information, to buy it for their grandkids— they’d never seen anything like it! The moving pics are great, but there is always a cute story to his books. I bought Waddle at a museum in Amsterdam, and loved it and have since also picked up Gallop and ABC’s.

Scanimation is a great way to engage little minds into the mystic arts of analog quasi-video.

This book arrived quickly and was in excellent shape for a used book. I bought it to add to my scanimation book collection as my grandkids love to look at them. I am looking forward to their next visit!

We gave this at Christmas to our just turned 3 year-old grand daughter and she squealed with delight when she opened it. She already has the author's book "Waddle" and we have enjoyed reading this with her on her trips to our house since she often packs that book as one of her favorites. From her reaction I think this will be a new favorite as well and it's nice that this one shows people which is different from Waddle, which has animals.

When I received the book, the pages were sticking together and would tear when trying to pry them open. This was a gift for a baby shower and now it looks like the book is old and used. Perhaps it was sitting around a warehouse too long. Whatever the case, the quality is less than expected.

This book didn't peak my godson's interest as much as animal scanimation books with color.

I'm a kindergarten teacher and so I've read thousands of children's books to my students. This book and the similar book "Gallop" by the same author, are some of our favorites and are loved by both children and adults. I've also given both books as gifts that received rave reviews!
