Sony MDR-XB55AP Premium in-Ear Extra Bass Wired Headphones with Mic (Black)

Best headphones for bass ever used I feel so bad that the company this continued them but I wish they are back. Quality is perfect long lasting use them for almost 2 years but the left side is not working now but I would say worth it for price.

Purchased this earphones back in Oct 2023 and the best one I ever had Bass is super clear along with balance in high and low notes Been using this from almost 2 years now and wire quality seems solid till now Every worth for your money looks also seems premium hoping should not stopped the manufacturing as will buy another one when this one goes faulty

I thought and checked a lot of reviews prior to purchasing these earphones. My final list was Sennheiser CX-275. RHA MA 390 and Sony MDR XB55AP which is available on Amazon within Rs 2000. Decide to go with Sony for a few reasons 1 I heard it earlier as my friend has it and I personally like little more bass as I listen to EDM and Bollywood Remix music 2 Mic and Build quality as my friend was using it for about a year and they sound the same. Now that did I figured out after my purchase Packaging 5/5 Box maintained its shape and I checked it’s authentication from Sony Website. It came with 03 additional was tips, I used the one it came with. One carrying case which is a nice thing. the case is ok nothing to talk much a case is a case. Build 4.5/5 It looked solidly build, wire quality is above average but the best as it is not Braided. Sound Overall 7.5 /10 Bass- 10/10 very balanced not overpowering but it will remind you that it’s there. Treble-9/10 balanced but I ear piercing could improve when it comes to its presence. To compare it with CX180 you can feel every beat but due to extra bass, it’s not that very prominent. Low- 10/10 You can hear every beat and especially when you want to relax and enjoy your trance or EDM it's PERFECT MID- 6-10 Vocals were little low and sounded sometimes muted, I use iPhone X and Apple Music which is AAC format but still in order to enjoy vocals from singers like Arijeet Singh, Celine Dion I has to increase the sound above 50 per cent. Highs-10/10 Excellent each beat and vocals can be heard of you wanna keep your volume to 70 to 80 percent. 100 percent it's too overpowering. COMFORT 5/10 The fit is fine but I used for continuously for 3 hours that is when I felt little pain even though I used standard Ear-tips as they felt heavy and reminded me that I was wearing something which was not the case when I use Apple earphone or RHA MA 390 U. But you will get used to it in sometime. Noise cancellation and Mic Quality 10/10 I couldn’t hear anything at a railway station that justifies everything and people did not even felt that I spoke to them from the mic. So is it friends So overall 8/10 I like bass heavy music so it fine perhaps great base and sound quality. If you wanna more comfort look for Sennheiser CX-275 which just lacks base and build quality is not good like Sony. I personally like the bass of Sony due to the kind of music I listen to, but given a choice, I would prefer little less base over comfort. I use RHA MA 390 more as I don’t feel I am wearing anything and that’s what I want with little base. Sorry Sony, I am really a fanboy but this time comfort with a warm signature of RHA MA 390 won my vote. Enjoy listening.

I have been using these earphones for more than 6 months. Believe me its an amazing earphone. Why ? 1. Build Quality : Build Quality is great. the wires are sort of anti tangle due to their texture thus is its quite easy to get going. the wires are not braided but you can feel the quality just by touching the. I have seen braided cables going bust in 2 -3 months. This is why I actually waited for 6 month to see how long and how much they last. 2. Sound Quality: I am a simple guy who loves bass music and very calm meditation music. These two are opposite ends. These headphones perform very well in both end. The sound is clear. The bass quality is superbly clear with a thump. 3. Few have complained about mic quality. I have a complain too but its in favor of Sony. The mic is ridiculously sensitive. Caller on other end complains about lot of ambiance noise. For eg. I have a school nearby. So Kids play on ground. I usually take call on 2nd floor. People complain that there is lot of noise of kids. Its amazing and annoying at same time. but I prefer to have sensitive mic instead of having to shout in mic. 4. Comfort : To each its own. I haven't found them uncomfortable at all. 5. My biggest complain with previous earphones with Sony was they use to fail and used to generate uneven sound in earphone. Twice it had happened. That really pisses me off as I have sensitive ears and slight discrepancies are picked up by me. Thus cant enjoy the off-center music. This isn't the case with this one so far.

I am using this more than a month and as expected Sony never turns me down. Previously I have used EX-15AP, EX-150AP and this is my first XB series headset and its damn good though few points may be cons from purchase point of view so let me explain in details, Pros: 1. Excellent Noise Isolation(Please note that Noise Cancellation feature is not present) 2. Excellent dynamic range - 20 Hz - 20 KHz. Base as well as highs are very good. 3. Gain at frequency level <60 Hz is quite good. Most of the headphone claims they response to frequency less than 60Hz but actually they don't. Variation below 100 Hz you can distinguish here with ease. 4. 12.5 mm driver hence sound output is loud unlike other canal headphone(8 mm driver). 5. Mid section is descent though I feel Sony EX150AP/LP has better mids but experience varies across users. 6. L-shaped 3.5 mm jack and tangle free wires. 7. Good depth of sound and clarity for single driver headsets. 8. Value for money. I got this at INR 1600(Deal price 2000, 200 instant cashback and 200 amazon pay cashback after 14 days). It is better among all headsets at this price range(CX275, JBL T200, Skullcandy) 9. Mouthpiece has excellent clarity. 10. Working perfectly in all devices like Desktop, Laptop, Tab, iPod and other music system with 3.5 mm output. Cons: 1. Mids section could have been better. 2. L-shaped connector is not made of solid plastic(like BoAt) so handle carefully. My last Sony headset got damaged due to that. 3. Someone might feel little bulky earbuds(though very light compared to shape) but it never comes out while workout. 4. Not recommended for long call as base is too high which makes you uncomfortable some time. N.B: ITS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED NOT TO USE IT WHILE WALKING IN BUSY STREETS OR DRIVING CARS/RIDING BIKES DUE TO HIGH NOISE ISOLATION.

----------------------------------------- Review after 1 month of use ----------------------------------------- No issues! Perfect fit in the ears - and perfect sound (esp. BASS)! The cable is grooved lines and will not tangle, as in very cheap ear pieces. It certainly looks sturdy! I've to use it for several months to know how long it will last. I hope it does last for at least 18 months, as I am fed up of buying very cheap ear phones which does not last beyond 2 months. NOTE: It seems those who are complaining about this Ear phone being slightly painful for the Ears, have either small Ears or they are inserting it wrongly. The ear pieces are made with a slight angle and has to be inserted in the direction of the Ear Canal. ----------------------------------------- Review after 2 months of use ----------------------------------------- I returned the ear phone at a local Sony Service Center to get a new one. The sound was "thin" - with no BASS - after inserting the Jack plug! Only when I took out the Jack plug slightly did I hear the proper sound with BASS. I was bit shocked, because there was NO mishandling on my part at all! Never squeezed/rolled it in my hand! I just dangled it after use. This is an expensive Sony product how can it malfunction with all the proper handling? ----------------------------------------- Review after 12 month of use ----------------------------------------- Just one day after the 12 month Warranty period is over, I noticed that the audio is audible from one side only. Again I repeated, I NEVER mishandle this earpiece. In spite of that, it is so sensitive it kind of malfunctions on its own. And, as we all know, Earpieces cannot be repaired! Feel disgusted that this expensive device lasted for just 9 months (after getting a new one within the warranty period, against the previous defective one which lasted 2 months). Now I am going to try out Earpieces of other brands. Enough with Sony!

Wow or Wowwww... !! Ok let's check and find. I'm an AirPod user. But only one drawback of AirPod is to listen EDM or any dance song like K-Pop or other this kind of songs. So I was finding an earphone, I'm here !! First a small review of AirPods so easily you can find the MDR-XB55AP sound quality. AirPods : Sound Clarity : Highs - 9.5/10 Mids - 9/10 Lows - 8/10 Sound Quality : Highs - 9/10 Mids - 8.5/10 Lows - 7.5/10 Sound Loudness : Loudness Overall - 8.5/10 Let's go to MDR-XB55AP for sound quality review w.r.t. AirPods 2nd gen. MDR-XB55AP : Sound Clarity : Highs - 8/10 Mids - 8.5/10 Lows - 9/10 Sound Quality : Highs - 8/10 Mids - 8/10 Lows - 9.5/10 Sound Loudness : Loudness Overall - 10/10 As above i gave ratings based on the individual format. It's completely depends upon the users. So finally MDR-XB55AP is good earphone for particularly EDM, DJ or any kind of party songs. And most positive thjngs is the LOWs and LOUDNESS of the MDR-XB55AP is on another level. Yeah some time the LOWs clarity issues for some kind of songs but not for all songs. And LOUDNESS is just too mush ... i can't increase my volume at 100%, it always max to max 80% while my AirPods volume, sometime i feel it's very low. MDR-XB55AP 's 12mm driver just nailed it. So if you want to listen only for EDM kind of songs then go for it otherwise no need. If you are finding great clarity of sound then you should choose another one, it's not for you. Some gamers also reviewed this earphone as bad ratings. But i don't think why they chose this earphone and rate it badly. They should have knowledge about sound. Sony clearly mentioned it is only for EDM lovers. Then why so they chose. If they are true gamer then move to Hyperx or Corsair or Logitech kind of brand, they only made accessories for Gamers. Okay anyway... EDM lovers go for it and AirPods user if you particular want to listen EDM song like me then move towards it otherwise backwards 😹.
