Very accurate, durable ruler
When I bought this ruler a few years ago, I had actually come looking for a Starrett, but was put off by the prices of Starretts, knowing I wouldn't be using the ruler that often, so I went with this Mitutoyo instead, based on reviews. The other night, my buddy and I started talking rulers and measuring tools while we were hanging out in his shop and decided to compare my Mitutoyo (this model) to his $35 Starrett 6-inch ruler (the equivalent to this one). We used his $200-some-dollar Starrett electronic caliper (he has way more high end measuring tools than I do and is a measuring-accuracy fanatic) to compare measurement markings on both rulers. We could find no difference, looking at them under bright light, using a magnifying glass and being very careful. We had time on our hands and a beer or two under our belts. :-) In our opinion, at least as far as this 6-inch ruler goes, it's as accurate as an equivalent Starrett ruler that costs over twice as much. The construction, durability, and readability is just as good also. It didn't cause him to rethink being a long-time Starrett fan, but he admitted this is a good ruler that's accurate and built well enough to do anything his Starrett will do with results just as good. I'm going to keep an eye on his tools going forward, to see if anything that says "Mitutoyo" shows up in his collection. TL,DR: This is a very accurate and well made ruler, on par with with one of the best names in the business, and will serve you very well for anything you need a 6-inch ruler to do.

High quality
Solidly built, accurate, and easy to read. Probably going to wind up buying several other sizes now, after ordering the 6" as a test case.

PERCECTION!
WOW FOR $12 I did not know if it would be legit mitutoyo... it is and the quality is PERFECTION! The markings are perfect and the best part is the edges they are near mirror finish. So not only is it a great machinist scale it is a great straight edge to check straigtness. I will be buying a second right away. MITUTOYO IS THE BEST BRAND IN DIGITAL ELECTRONIC MEASURING TOOLS.They are second to none and priced better than most. Their dial indicators are excellent though I stick with interrapid and brown and Sharpe for those . Other than that lightly is king their ELECTRONIC stuff is amazing. They go to the 5th decimal place and have amazing repeatability. Garrett and brown and Sharpe make electronic calipers and mics and charge more money but done work as good and some have inferior resolution (4 decimal places) Lightly even offers a 6 decimal p.ace mics in 0to1 inch but it's like $1300 but has CMM accuracy. Mitutoyo offers extreme precision for a fair price, 10 years ago they were common but starett and brown and Sharpe were the best sellers. Now lightly is the most owned and for good reason

Smaller than I have expected. But it blows the mind instantly! Extremely well-made, flowless and very accurate.

This was exactly what I was looking for, a short, easy to read and inflexible ruler. Its not cheap but feels high quality in the hand. In my opinion it's worth the extra money over something cheap as it seems like it will last a long time.

This steel rule is a fantastic tool for machinists. It's built solid with no flex, making it reliable for precise measurements. The numbers are clear and high contrast, which makes them easy to read. The satin chrome finish adds a nice touch and enhances durability. Overall, a great addition to any toolbox.
