I’ve tried skipping preservatives in my homemade stuff before and let’s just say... I learned real quick that water + time = weird smells and slime. So now I don’t mess around. I use this in anything I make that involves water, like my whipped lotions and little soap experiments, and it’s been doing what it’s supposed to do without giving me a hard time. I usually measure it out with a syringe since I’m always trying to eyeball things and this makes it a lot less chaotic. So far, everything’s stayed fresh and nothing’s gone funky on me.It plays nice in my recipes, and I don’t notice any weird smells or textures. It came in a good-sized bottle too, which matters when I’m making stuff in batches. I use around 1% depending on what I’m mixing up and it stretches pretty far. Definitely makes the whole process feel more reliable.

This is my absolute favorite preservative to use for my liquid soaps and lotions! It’s easy to use and effective with keeping my products well preserved. My lotions and soaps leave my hands and body feeling well moisturized . This is an excellent product, well worth the money!

I needed a preservative for homemade cosmetics and hand soaps. Recently, before receiving this preservative, I shaved a soap bar and put it in water to make a liquid hand soap, but it started getting moldy and slimy after a few days. So, this arrived at a perfect time! I used about 1%, and so far it seems to be keeping my liquid hand soap fresh. I use a syringe to measure the amount; it is a lot easier to measure. I make my own body cream too, so I will use it the next time I make more.

I have been making bath and body products since 2017, and I have used a large amount of Optiphen Plus, but this is the first time I have seen it in this dark yellow color. I do not know if it is okay for use since it is not addressed anywhere in the listing. I wish this were addressed so I would know that my finished products were preserved and safe. The listing shows it clear, and I have always received clear.

I’ve been making my own lotions and creams for at least ten years, and optiphen is my favorite preservative to use when formulating products that contain any amount of water. Not that I am a fan of preservatives by any means. It is just a necessary ingredient in order to prevent baddies from growing in my skincare recipes. I learned my lesson the hard way. This particular product is very reasonably priced and comes in a large enough container to provide plenty of preservatives to make gallons upon gallons of products. Great find!

I use this product as a natural preservative for my handmade lotions and creams. It does a wonderful job of keeping them fresh and bacteria free for up to two years. This bottle is enough for several batches.

I'm experimenting with DIY lotions so decided to try this preservative to help keep my products fresh.This product was manufactured in Jan of 2025 and expires in Dec of 2026. I ordered this in March of 2025.I look forward to using this product as I create my own lotions.
