Moulin Du Roy Watercolor Pad Hot Press 9X12

I realized after I ordered this paper that I don't like hot press paper, but I only took a star off because I felt like it buckled too much under the watercolor.

This Moulin Du Roy Watercolor paper is very nice and smooth. Hot Press, white 140 lb. perfect for watercolor painting. It can be used for pen and ink and also color pencil.

Unfortunately the paper arrived crumpled and I had to use it anyway. More concern should be devoted to packaging to prevent this mishap.

The pricey pad of 12 sheets of art paper was apparently forced into a shipping box. Two edges of the pad were crumpled rendering all 12 sheets unusable. I would give it 0 stars but Amazon does not allow that function.

Ich muss mich meinem Vorredner anschließen - dieses Papier lässt kaum eine zweite Farbschicht zu. Ich hatte es mir gekauft, um Farbabnahme-Techniken darauf besser verwenden zu können; das lässt dieses Papier auch sehr gut zu - allerdings zu gut. Farbe lässt sich mit Wasser wieder anlösen und wirklich quasi restlos wieder entfernen, so dass das reine Weiß des Papiers wieder durchkommt - das gleiche passiert allerdings auch, wenn man Schatten o. ä. auf bereits Gemaltes setzen will, auch wenn die Farbe bereits völlig durchgetrocknet ist, so dass man u. U. dort, wo der dunklere Schatten sitzen sollte, nun sogar eine hellere Farbfläche hat. Für bestimmte, expressivere Malweisen ist das bestimmt gut und durch das rückstandlose Entfernen ergeben sich interessante Möglichkeiten; für Illustration hingegen ist das Papier ziemlich ungeeignet.

Absolutely love this paper for my watercolour wet in wet and also Brushos that I have to spray copiously with water. The paper is also thick enough to use as a card in itself which is useful. Lovely and smooth. I can see why it's a favourite with the botanical artists. So far it has accepted any media I have used.

The paper is very smooth. I prefer a little rougher.
