Markus 1TB HDD Digital Video Recorder,HD Media Player - Network,HDMI,USB

Based upon what I thought this unit could do, I ignored some of the negative things I read online, such as the fact that it was designed to be used outside the US, so the connectors were non-standard.All I cared about was the fact that it could record from a video or DV / FireWire port, and that you could plug it into a computer using USB and access your content. What they do not tell you is that when you plug it in to a computer, it only shows you a small portion of the drive... that is to say it DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO ACCESS THE RECORDINGS YOU MADE WITH IT. It allows you to copy files onto it, and it will play some of them (it does not seem to handle many of today's more popular codecs such as H.264), but the recordings you made from it are not accessible at all.Recordings you make using the DV or video ports are stored in a partition that is NOT visible to the computer.So for me, it's useless.

The unit worked well and did what I wanted. The TV viewing is only programmed for Europe. Even with coax adapters in place the only region choices are European and the "other regions" choice shows Germany as the only country option. However I did not buy it for recording local over the air TV, so I'll keep it.

First of all the in and out connections are foreign not american. They never did address this problem. I even went out to three different electronic places to get cables, for proper hook up, none were to be found. Product didn't come with complete instruction booklet, instead a leaflet was in box for fast hook up instructions. I tried getting a review before buying this product none were available. Would not recommend this product to a friend. I should have bought the Magnavox MDR 537H.

Item arrived on time, works well. however, HARD DISK needed replacement within 6 months. ( to be fair to the vendor, this may be due to shocks the item received on its way in checked in luggage. Item being used in a South Asian country. I should have bought the item without the hard disk and installed the HD after buying locally. Fixing new HD was a simple matter of fixing 2 cables of HD and driving in the screws.

At least for now, it delivers. Simple to setup, simple to use and very versatile. I recommend it. Lots of included cabling.

It got here quicker than expected and performs nicely. I would give 5 stars if it were more user-friendly​.
