Nice craft kit for lower elementary kids
My 5 year old grandson loves to create characters - whether in stories, drawings, puppets, or with just a bunch of random items taped together. One day he asked how to sew, so I thought this would be a great way for him to learn safely and it's a fun craft we can do together. This kit has a lot of animals to craft together for the price - they're all pre-punched and come with all that is needed to create each animal. The quality of the felt is and thread is good, however, some of the backing of the adhesive is extremely difficult to get off (it's like it was sitting in a hot warehouse for too long). It sticks, and sticks well - it's just difficult to get the backing off. They give plenty of stuffing and floss for sewing as well as plastic needles for safety, perfectly suited for the recommended age range. My grandson loves making these. This is a great kit for grandparent-grandchild bonding time or parent-child bonding time, or a gift! Recommend

One to one teaching ratio for young kids= better success
Good quality. I teach art grades K-12th. I purchased these for a summer camp that I work for. 7 year olds became very frustrated despite having success with a sewing heart project prior. 9-12 year olds was a mixed bag of success about 3 of 46 students quit in this age group and decided to draw no matter how much I offered to help or encouraged them. To my complete surprise 47 of 47 students in my 12-14 year old classes enjoyed this lesson and were successful. Many asked to take any extras home to complete and give to siblings or family members. Most students in this class were eager to help each other opposed to the younger children who all needed individual assistance and would overwhelm me with requests. Despite having direction, success with prior sewing lessons and a teacher assistant the 7-8year olds kept asking for step by step help with the stickers and where they should go. The older students were willing to figure everything out via directions and asked me for help as a last resort. Sorry I don’t have photos for these specific animals in the kit. I purchased several sewing kits and gave them to students I also recommend that the instructor cuts the thread for each student. I ended up coming work 3 hours early and cutting and threading the needles for ALL students. The lesson was unsuccessful when I had students thread the needles themselves. Also note that I purchased additional needles so that every child had two. Edit: I purchased additional kits for my K-8th grade public school classroom. Same issues. I think ages 7-10 might be too young for this activity. They are struggling severely with fine motor skills and require one on one assistance which is not possible with so many kids in a public school classroom and no teacher assistant. However, 11 year old-15year olds truly enjoyed the lesson and I had 100% engagement. One constant issue is the lack of fine motor skills. Even with my older students struggled to thread needles and couldn’t tie knots which resulted in an entire day of learning to tie knots. Once they understood how to sew I purchased additional kits and students can go to the calm down corner when they are stressed and can use these sewing kits or crochet.Once the skill was learned Several students have approached me and said that sewing calms them down. Which is why I implemented the calm down corner activity . Finally, this is not a cost effective kit to purchase for public school classrooms. I paid out of pocket and was partially reimbursed by my school district . I have a cricut and I make felt hearts and animals. I use the iPad and procreate to draw and create my own basic animal sewing templates. It’s a lot of work it kinda keeps the cost down but the time invested is wild. I taught my older students how to use the cricut and have them cut fabric. Saves some time. I manually punch holes around the edges and bag them in a ziplock with a plastic sewing needle, cotton and thread.

Great for young kids
This was a Christmas gift for my 7 year old. She had recently completed her sewing badge for AHG and she expressed interest in continuing to learn the craft of hand sewing. This set is absolutely perfect for perfecting the running stitch and you can even do a whip stitch if desired. I would give the product a full 5 stars, however the one downfall are the additional pieces to stick on to the characters. They can break easily and you have to be extra careful pulling the backing off so you don't also remove the sticky part.

Add hot glue to sticker parts. Adhesive doesn’t work.
This is such a cute kit for kiddos to help with basic sewing skills. But the adhesive on the attachments, they stick to the paper rather than the felt. Had to add some hot glue (photo) to make them stick. But other wise, so easy, and it includes all the tools including needles, a threader and scissors.

Easy to follow directions
Great beginner sewing kit! Cute designs, easy instructions, and fun for kids. Materials are decent—thread could be better, but overall very happy with it.
