Used for Jiu Jitsu You can't beat the quality and $ per sq ft on this product!
When I first saw the boxes arrive to my home I was pleasantly shocked. They were definitely big as one would hope for them to be. I say this because I was paranoid as to what 4 X 10 would look like in person.I opened the box with a box cutter, let me add that I strongly advise you to open these with the utmost caution, given that the mat material is only covered by a thin plastic bag. If you use a box cutter, as I have, please only use the most minimal incision depth to avoid punctures to mat material.Upon removing the mats, the first thing I noticed was the Vinyl Material. It was very much solid in that it wasn't baggy on the mat like other folding mats I have seen before. The material was firmly fitted with minor slack in certain areas, which is normal with any vinyl mat cover. The vinyl was very supple and not abrasive like other mats I have seen. The mat has on each end a strip of Velcro, to attach other mats to it. They also have a convenient handle once folded for easy carry. Best part is they come with a 2 year warranty.I unfolded and laid down the mat on the floor and was shook by how much space they took up, even my brother commented on his concern if we were gonna have enough space for them.I took out the other mats and started to connect them. Connecting the mats isn't too difficult. There is kind of a learning curve connecting them. My suggestion is to have the mat you are connecting overlap the mat thats on the floor and then gently slide the mat in to place on the velcro flap.I bought 3 Mats which is definitely enough if you want to spar comfortably 1 on 1. I'd say get 4 Mats if you wanna spar 1v1 in an MMA fashion. 3 Mats is enough for 4 people if technique is the only thing being practiced and drilled.Anyway, once we connected them, I spent no time waiting to test them out.Test 1: My biggest concern in getting these mats was that the foam wasn't going to be dense enough to provide comfort during my rolls. Boy was I wrong. These guys are very firm. Not so much that it feels like I am walking on solid bare ground but enough that I can tell what I was walking on is cushioned. My feet did not sink in much, if at all, when I stood on them. I did a few break falls and did not feel any sort of discomfort. I would not suggest slamming someone on these mats but I would feel comfortable having a take down done on me with these mats.Test 2: My next biggest concern was that the Velcro would not hold when doing shrimping movements or pushing off my back foot for a double leg. The mats held up just fine with no issue. No moving around on the bare floor or separation. Should that be the case at any point, I can always add strips of Velcro to the end "faces" of the mats but so far I don't think I will need too.Test 3: Drilling. I'll be honest, I have yet to do a full out sparring session on these because the reason I bought them was to do the Gracie University curriculum with my brother. He is not in anyway experienced in Grappling, so we only did technique drilling. These mats were as comfortable as can be. I forgot I was even drilling in my garage. The material is perfect for Jiu jitsu. I can't fathom getting mat burn from the material. My back felt comfortable in guard and even when my brother was working his mount attacks on me.For cleaning, I suggest not over saturating the mats with your cleaning solution. So put the mop bucket away. The best way I have found to clean them is to use a spray bottle (I use a bleach and water solution) and dry mop pad. Spray and push the mop pad down the mat till solution is spread and thinned out. Allow to air dry and put the mats up (or leave them down, whatever, they're your mats)Overall I will give them the following ratings:Material: 8/10:They by no means feel cheap but nor does it feel super expensive either. It is adequate and then some. The vinyl is very comfortable and solid. The mat foam is very firm and absorbs impact like a champ (well as well as a 2 inch thick mat could). It is all you need and then some. In the future I will buy a vinyl tarp to put over it to increase the mat life.Build quality: 8/10:While some customers have reported issues with the seams coming upon receiving them, they are in the minority of the reviews and I have yet to see much quality issues besides the occasional thread sticking out. They don't appear to be loose but maybe just end pieces that didn't get cut. You really have to look for it, it is by no means noticeable or bothersome or even concerning. The 2 year warranty helps me sleep at night too. The handles seem adequate and the Velcro doesn't seem flimsy at all.Set up: 9/10I am not a fan of Velcro in the first place but to be fair this is just how folding mats lock, still way more convenient and comfortable than puzzle mat, set up isn't all that fun but they get the job done. While I prefer the ease in the Velcro setup that Gracie Garage mats used to have (Velcro on the flat ends of the mat), these seem to be more secure. Like I said, it is a learning curve but only a small one to align them just right. Taking the mats off and folding them is not too much of a hassle. Just pull the mat from the Velcro strip. I advise you to step or push on the fuzzy Velcro flap while you pull the other mat off to prevent any damage to the flaps. The mats fold up easily and the handle really helps transport them.Price: 10/10You seriously can't beat this quality and $ per sq ft anywhere else.Overall Score: 9/10:Best 235 bucks I have spent. Do yourself a favor and get them!

Good padding, but cover too thin, and tore ... Company Slow but did send replacement
They are indeed able to attach long ways (two mats making 4'x20') as well as side ways (two mats making 8'x10'). In terms of the padding ... we fall on them (i.e., Judo throws).. They are just the perfect thickness, balancing stability for your footing in athletic maneuvers, as well as padding for falls. They are not, however, intended to be those 4 inch "crash pads," which many dojo's use for new people falling/throwing (no two inch mat will serve the purpose of a 4 inch crash pad). ...But then a few weeks later, it ripped at one of the seems. At first the mat company, BalanceFrom, was responsive, and asked for a picture, which we provided. After that, they were very slow, almost non-responsive. .But now, they did respond. Actually, they claim to have responded earlier. They claim to be sending a replacement. I'm basically satisfied. But I am going to try to reinforce the seems, where there was a tear. I should have asked the thickness, which I still think is too thin. They should have specified, and/or I should have asked for the thickness of the covering. I heard that an 18 ounce material is good. BalanceFrom GoGym All-Purpose 4'x10'x2" Extra Thick High Density Anti-Tear Gymnastics Gym Folding Exercise Aerobics Mats (Purple)

Weak durability- horrible seam stitching
Mat 1 arrived Sunday 05/17/19 and stayed in the box until the 2nd one arrived 05/21/19 its now Thursday 05/23/19We store the mats behind the couch when not in use. We’ve done:Two - hour long yoga morning sessionsOne - hour long Brazilian Jui-Jitsu sessionsOne - 30min of Muay Thai stand up practiceThe mats have been in use for a total of 3hrs and 30min. The Stitches are already coming apart and busting. The seams are fraying.I will be starting my warranty alreadyP.s. mat etiquette is standard, but just to clarify, no pointy/sharp objects, no long nails to dig into mats either. Haven’t even had a chance to wash them yet. Mats are inside in our living room, and then get stored behind the couch when not in useOn the positive side, the rest of the mats store well, happy to get some mats to practice on.Nice thickness. Packaging came intact, nothing wrong with mats upon delivery.Heads up, Mats width are 3ft 10in with a 2 inch velcro adhesive strip to make the full 4ft wide.

Low Quality Control
I purchased this as a streatching mst for my office. I do crossfit so I find it helps to take 10min and stretch a day so naturally its been sitting on the floor completely unused other than the first week I got it. Today I grabbed the handle to slide it forward a little as it was in the way and the handle stiching completely gave way with little to no force. Not impressed and I can't find manufacturer contact info for the warranty. The stiching isn't great on the panels but for my needs I was able to look past that .

Best Mat Ever!
This review is written by my 9 year old daughter who uses the mat the most. This is a very good mat. If you fall on your knees it doesn't hurt, there is so much padding. The only thing I don't like about it is the fact that it slides on the hardwood floors. Otherwise it is very good. I think it is a good quality mat because the padding is thick and the covering is also thick. My friends and I have made up 3 different routines together.

Great Mat
Mat is light enough for my 8 year old to drag around. The purple color is just as you see it... bright and fun. All of the seams look good. Only 4 stars because I dont care for the velcro they put on it. I realize it is there so that you can attach more than 1 mat together. However mine is for single use and the velcro, if not laid down away from the body, can scratch. And if you lay the velcro side down it could scratch your floors. It's not a huge deal but want buyers to be aware. The mat has a convenient handle to use once it is folded and will slide easy under a bed. Great mat overall.

Great if you buy one; less so if you buy two
We bought one of these so my daughter can practice here cheer while everyone is housebound due to the period of social distancing we're all in (April 2020) and it was great. Nice padding, very durable, high quality. We liked it so much in fact we ordered a second to make a giant area both kids can use to practice their martial arts. The second one arrived to day and there are unfortunate differences. The second mat is not quite the same shade of purple as the first - that is not too big a deal as they are pretty close. More concerning is that the new mat is about 2" shorter than the original mat so they don't line up. The first panel is very close to being the same in but then the others seem to be about 3/4" different. This is pretty disappointing. We'll probably keep it as, well, it is here now and it will be a pain to take back.UPDATE: we have ordered a third mat and will be returning the smaller mat. Looking more closely, the smaller mat is very poorly sewn. I almost wonder if this second mat is a fake/knock-off. Both were sold by Amazon and I contacted the company (profrom) and they had no idea why the sizes would be different. The first mat has nice clean lines and the foam fits well inside the sections; the second mat is much looser because the foam inside is smaller. The pictures show the two mats side by side so they differ in width and in height. Furthermore, as you can see in the pictures, the thread in the second smaller mat is a miscoloured blue that is sewn very poorly.

Superior Gym Mat
I purchased this 10 foot long purple gym mat to go under our balance beam for my competitive gymnasts to practice at home. I had purchased a purple mat prior to this for under our bar that was sufficient, when I needed another, I picked based on what would arrive the fastest and was really surprised with how superior this mat is to our other mat! The fabric is less slippery, its a little heavier so it doesn't move at all, its much thicker and has more bounce to it than our other mat does. I also love that there is a 10 foot option, it folds up easily, easy to wipe down and best of all it does not move regardless of the action on the beam or upon an insane dismount. I'm seriously kicking myself for not having ordered this one from the start and having two of these superior mats. I may end up ordering another one just to finish off our home gym flooring to be protective and padded everywhere. I also really like the color. This is a 5 star all around in my eyes.

Poor quality made
If the finished product had better quality control, this would have been a great product at the given price point; but the fabric is a bit loose mine had a slight scratch. The packaging was minimal, so you need to be careful when opening it otherwise you may damage your mat. Tried contacting the seller, but no response. The foam is thick and the dimension matches the description, but the fabric covering the mat is loose to makes it easy to rip. I just put big blanket over it prevent that. Go with more reliable seller.

Very nice quality, firm and nice colour
These mats are higher quality than I expected, firm but not hard, nice heavy duty vinyl covering. I was expecting the more common royal blue and was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful light blue colour. The velcro on all 4 sides makes it possible to set them up in a variety of configurations, and keeps them firmly attached together. All this, and they are light weight enough for me to fold them up and put them away (love the carrying handles!!).UPDATE, 2020-04-26: Changed from 5 to 4 stars. I ordered 2 more of these mats (in purple) about a year after the first ones (which are still in great shape and we use them daily). The price had increased about $40 from last year. I received mat #3 (purple) exactly the same quality as #1 & #2 (blue). I received #4 (shipped separately the next day) and it was completely different, not the same shade of purple as #3, the fabric was not tightly wrapped and it only had single seams instead of the top-stitching as the other ones. It was also about 2 inches longer than the others, presumably because of the loosely wrapped fabric. I was going to send it back, but because of COVID-19, they are now way more expensive because the manufacturer had to shut down. I contacted the manufacturer directly first and they told me to deal with Amazon. I begrudgingly decided to keep mat #4 because we need it. Not happy with the quality. However, having 4 mats total has allowed us to turn our entire garage into a gymnasium for the kids who have been home from school for 6 weeks.
