This thing looks like something you would find in the cockpit of a 747. Lots of buttons and knobs. But once you understand the workflow of sampling you can spend a few days with the manual and get most of your workflow together on this. That is, if you know your sampling workflow and how that all works. The portability of this is great for those who are familiar with sampling and need to downsize a large setup. This thing will literally do it all, or most of it that you would need to do to make samples and even Lo-fi beats. The variety of connections, inputs, outputs, usb, midi, make this a great core component to build a mobile setup around. It is a pretty steep learning curve if you've never owned a sampler before due to all the extras they still packed into a small package. If you are comfortable with function keys then you will be ok. They did a pretty good job at keeping the menu structure fairly shallow so you aren't scrolling and clicking a dozen times to get to a buried feature. Really benefits from having a nice portable synth to run into it.

At its price point, this thing is a powerful sampler that you can carry around and just jam on. I traded up from the LIVEN LoFi-12, and the XT is superior in many ways to the LIVEN series. I feel like the LIVEN series should have an SD Card and USB data/sound as a result of the quality of this product.I say this with one big concern and worry, though: While the pads are nice, the step, D-pad, and cancel/confirm buttons seem weak, and make me worry about the longevity of this device.Still, I love it so far.
