We have a 9 y/o, 160 lb. GSD/mastiff cross with hip dysplasia, who had a femoral head ostectomy a few years ago following a hip dislocation. Arthritis has now set in, and had gotten bad enough that he would whine or yelp upon getting up after resting. He was mostly fine while moving, but even an hour's rest left him painfully stiff. Because of his advanced age and the potential for complications, we didn't want to put him on a prescription pain management regimen until we've exhausted other options, so started looking for supplements that might help. My husband has RA, and has had luck mitigating most of his pain by following a low-carb, anti-inflammatory diet and taking a variety of joint-related supplements. Since our pups are already on a low-carb diet, we began looking for supplements similar to what my husband has had success with. This product is the only one we've found that contains everything that my husband takes (and then some). Our dog is kind of immense, so he gets the maximum amount (five) of these little nuggets once per day. He apparently loves the flavor, because he takes them readily. It took about two weeks before we noticed a difference in the way he was moving, where and how he was choosing to lay, and just his demeanor in general. He has stopped yelping upon getting up after a long rest, and hasn't needed assistance to get up on the couch or our bed. He still sometimes seems a little stiff a couple of days before a storm, exactly the same as my husband, but otherwise seems like a normal, healthy dog. Because our dog is so large, one package of this only lasts about a month. It's worth it, though. I wish I would have had him on these since his surgery all those years ago -- maybe I could have delayed the onset of his symptoms.

My dog is extremely picky when it comes to anything that isn’t meat or in the form of a treat. Medications are easily removed from pill holder treats and dispatched. Unfortunately the only way to administer pills is the ole fashioned “shove it in the back of his mouth, hold it shut and dangle and piece of meat in front of his snout” method. The first time I gave him one of these hemp chews, he rolled it around his mouth and spit it out. A few minutes later he ate it off the floor and then the rest is history. If allowed, he would eat a dump truck full in one sitting. As far as effectiveness, it’s hard to tell. But as an older dog who had ACL surgery and having a hard time fully recovering, he seems to have made major strides in his mobility and seemingly more comfortable. These were recommended to my by a vet who has he has been doing a PT regime with and I believe they live up to the hype. Maybe the biggest benefit however is they don’t give him room clearing, melt the paint off the walls toxic dog farts that other products that I’ve tried in the past have. I would recommend these to anyone with a dog that suffers from joint issues.

This is an acceptable product. I don't really have anything bad to say about it. I purchased them because I could give my dog fewer, so I thought it would be easier for me. It could just be my dog's personal preference, but she won't eat these by themselves. I have to add them to her food to disguise the taste. I still gave them 4 stars, because I AM getting the medicinal benefit for my dog. I gave them 4 stars for pain relief, 3 stars for taste, 5 for stretch. They lasted me 2 months. My dog just likes the other ones more, so it is easier for me to give her the relief, because she readily eats the other ones.

This product is great! I switched from a more expensive brand that needed refrigeration causing a problem while traveling. Works just the same.

I have a 15 yr old 7lb Yorkie who has suffered from age related joint pain in his hips and shoulders for a few years. From the first nugget I gave him, I observed an improvement in his gait - he was not limping as badly, and seemed to be more comfortable overall. After a week, his limp was almost gone! I've tried other joint supplement products - they smelled so bad, my dog wouldn't go near them! These supplements look good, they smell good - the texture is very soft and crumbly so the nugget literally melts in his mouth. I never have to coax my dog to take one, so that's a gift with purchase right there! LOL Almost 3 weeks later, I believe this product has helped my dog significantly. When he takes it slow, his walk is limp-free. I am absolutely amazed that one product could do so much to improve my baby's quality of life and put a spring back into his step. Thank you so much GoodGrowlies! 05/23/2020 - just an update, we started our 2nd jar of the Good Growlies Hemp Chews. After a few months of using this product, I have observed a progressive improvement in my elderly yorkie's overall joint health. He is almost 100% limp-free now and is able to run freely and seems to have recovered all of his mobility. I have seen him limp occasionally, but I'm pretty sure it's just a manipulation tactic for a treat or two LOL I am VERY happy with this product, and expect to use it for the remainder of my dog's life. I believe in the healing properties of joint supplements, and am so glad that I found Good Growlies. My dog absolutely LOVES it - he lines up for his chew every morning and never lets me forget to give it to him - it's more like a treat than medicine to him! I highly recommend it - it truly is well worth the price. The customer service is FANTASTIC too - I could not be happier with the product or the seller. A++++ all around!

Dogs don't like it,I have to crush it up & hide it in the food.

I ordered this for my 7 1/2 year old Labradollie (Lab/border collie) because he started limping on his left front leg after taking long walks with me on the back roads of Texas. I took him to the vet who could not find any damage, no thorns or cuts, so he gave some pills for pain. Not good enuff! I did a little research and ordered this product and started him on it, 1 in morning and 1 in afternoon about 4 weeks ago. I haven't seen any more limping or pain since he's been on this product! Easy to take, he sees them as a treat. Good stuff! Go for it. UPDATE: 05/18/21 The product seems to be good but, unfortunately, it turned out that my dog had contracted an incurable spinal disease that slowly left him unable to walk at all. I was carrying him out of the house and laying him on the ground to use the bathroom. I realized that I was keeping him here more for me than what was fair for him so I eventually had to make that terrible decision. Worse day of my life! I buried my best friend in December of 2020. Best dog I ever had and I miss him every day.

This was the last effort in helping our 11-year-old basset feel better. She has always been an incredibly active girl (no overweight bassets here!) and we’ve noticed the slowing down gradually over the last couple years, as well as a stiffness that set in during the colder months; usually this was helped with a heating pad. We ordered this December 7th, received it the 9th, and started that day with 2, sometimes 3 treats per day (she weighs 43 lbs). On the 16th, she was limping, couldn’t go up even the smallest step, no playfulness, and in pain. It broke our hearts, but we made the appointment for the 23rd with the vet and prepared to say goodbye. Friday, the 18th, I came home, opened the door and was greeted by a short, stubby-legged bullet! She ran out the front door and practically leaped off the step to the front yard, then came back in, taking that small step just like she used to. By the 21st, we canceled the appointment. These treats have literally saved our girl, we have bonus time with her and we are cherishing every bit of it. The ONLY downside is she’s a picky stinker, and doesn’t like the taste. It’s simply remedied by dipping the end of the treat in bacon grease (a smidge), or wrapping it with a piece of lunch meat, but she won’t eat it straight. The 2nd bottle I ordered is the bacon flavored; we’ll see how she likes it. I gave quite a few to my sister for her dog, and he snarfed it down no problem, so I’m pretty sure it’s just my picky girl. 2nd bottle ordered already because I don’t want the slightest chance of running out - these are vital!
