Great doorbell.
I love this doorbell. It's good quality at a reasonable price. Video quality is great and it's easy to use.

Excellent doorbell and camera ecosystem – no subscriptions, great performance
I’ve been using the Tapo TD21 Battery Video Doorbell alongside two Tapo C320WS 2K cameras for around six months, and the whole setup has been absolutely first-class. The biggest advantage is that there are no ongoing subscription costs. The Tapo app is completely free to use, yet still offers everything you actually need: live view, instant notifications, motion alerts, playback, and event history. The TD21 doorbell has been excellent for deliveries and general home security. Video quality is very good both day and night, with reliable night vision and accurate motion detection. Battery life has also been impressive — after six months it’s still performing strongly, which is far better than I expected from a battery-powered doorbell. The C320WS 2K cameras complement the doorbell perfectly. The 2K image quality is sharp, night vision is clear, and together they provide excellent coverage around the property. Everything integrates seamlessly within the same app, making it quick and easy to check activity or see who’s at the door. Overall, this is a fantastic smart security setup from TP-Link — reliable, easy to use, no hidden costs, and outstanding value for money. I would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality doorbell and camera system without monthly fees.

Works well but some features drain the battery quickly
The video quality is very good and can be switched between 360p and 2K HD. There's an option to have full colour night vision which is a handy feature. The recording feature was easy to use but drains a lot of the battery (had this around 6 weeks and battery is already at 60%). It's also very sensitive and I kept getting notifications for "motion" when it was actually just a nearby tree branch blowing in the wind. This also drains a lot of battery but the sensitivity can be changed and mine is now at 1 whilst still detecting people and vechiles. It's AI detection feature is mostly accurate however sometimes it detects cars and vans as 'people motion', but again you can correct the event type in the app and this helps train the AI on future detection events. It is easy to set up with a setup guide within the app. I already have another Tapo camera in the app so it was easy to connect to wifi. I mounted this with my own adhesive stickers as the ones provided were not secure or strong enough, and even became non-sticky once removed from the wrapper. It is probably best attached with nails but if you have to attach it to a plastic door frame or brick like me, you'll need to buy seperate strong adhesive stickers. Overall this is a good all-round, first doorbell camera that has worked well for me. I bought this when on offer and it was £5 cheaper than another Tapo doorbell that looks similar but is actually the exact same just a different name (basically it is the same product but one is for the EU market and the other US market). It also comes with a doorbell chime that you plug-in which the ring volume and sound can be adjusted from the app. Tapo also has a range of features like Smart actions and community help forum.

Good product
Its been up for 2 months. Works well. Have recharged once. If you live on a busy street you need to adjust the sensitivity or you will have messages every 5 mins and a flat battery. If you want to keep video for more than a week (you might go on holiday) It is £30 for a year. Easy to set up and subscribe through Applepay

Better than Ring.
So I have had a Ring doorbell for about 6 years. I have no problem with it but resent having to pay a separate subscription to keep recordings. They are expensive enough without having to pay too record footage. So I have loads of Tapo devices in the home from bulbs, cameras and plugs. All work in one app and all work really well. If you have Alexa you don’t have to do anything in the app. It just shows up ready once set up in Tapo app. So for the doorbell. It’s a weighty thing and feels solid. Video quality is excellent, easily on par with the Ring. The light ring has enough illumination to light up whoever is at the door in full colour and high definition at night. I like the fact when someone rings the doorbell, your phone announces it like a phone call (along with any smart speaker). You just answer like a facetime call (they can’t see you). Battery life has been really good considering mine is close to the path so gets plenty of foot traffic going by. I have set mine to only activate on people rather than everything, otherwise it would never stop recording. And there is the great thing about it. Stick a memory card in and all the recordings are there for you to view in the Tapo app. You can download them to your phone if you need to right from the app. If you want the added security of cloud backup, Tapo Care have you covered with different plans. I have a couple of Tapo security cameras I pay for backup on. But I’m getting two cameras backed up for the price I was Paying for one Ring camera. Oh and you get a wireless doorbell chime you can stick in any plug in the house. You pay extra for that with Ring. When I got it, it was on offer and only cost £35. Worth every penny.

Awesome bit of kit for security and price of mind.
’ve been looking for a video doorbell that didn't require me to rewire my entire front porch, and the Tapo TD21 is exactly what I needed. I’m already deep into the Tapo ecosystem, so adding this was a no-brainer. The Best Bits: The View: Most doorbells just show you people's faces, but this one has a "head-to-toe" view. It’s a game changer because I can actually see if a delivery driver has tucked a package right up against the door where other cameras would miss it. Video Quality: The 2K resolution is seriously sharp. I can zoom in on faces or license plates in the driveway without it turning into a pixelated mess. Battery Life: I was worried about having to charge it every week, but it’s holding up great so far. It’s been up for [insert your time, e.g., three weeks] and I’ve barely made a dent in the battery. The Chime: It comes with an indoor chime you just plug into a socket. It’s loud enough to hear from the back of the house, so I don't always have to rely on my phone notifications. One Small Thing: The AI detection is actually too good sometimes. I had to tweak the sensitivity because it kept telling me my neighbor's cat was a "person" at 3 AM. Once I dialed the settings back in the app, it’s been spot on. The Verdict: If you want something easy to install (literally just stick it or screw it to the wall) with great night vision and NO monthly subscription if you use an SD card—this is it. Way better value than the big-name brands that charge you £5 a month just to look at your own footage

You cant go wrong!
Very impressed with this. We moved from an A R L O device to this, and happy we did. The old one was over double the price, and charged £16pm subscription to get basic features. The TAPO device on the other hand, is free to use, and if you pop in an SD card, is free for life. I'll be cash better off within 3 months.! If you want to subscribe to cloud storage it's only £26 per year with TAPO too. Personally, Im more than happy with the SD card, playback is super quick anyway. The speed at which I can connect to this compared to the old one is miles better. The quality improved too. I always struggled with my last device with two-way audio, but no issues so far with this. The chime is near instant from pressing the button, and Id say it calls your phone one or two seconds later, very little lag really. It came with a chime out the box too, which is another pro versus my old one. Installation and setup took me 15 minutes. Other than the very DIY illiterate, I can't see this being an issue to get set up for anyone. It also comes with an adhesive sticker for if you have the surrounds to attach it, so might get away with no drilling if thats what you wish. It probably doesnt look as slick out of the box as my old one, but it still looks very tidy. The online pics make it look a bit tacky and maybe cheap not really doing justice for the actual quality. Id say the build quality is solid. Its not surviving a crack from a hammer, but its not flimsy at all. The only thing I haven't had a chance to test is battery life, but signs are good so far.

Tapo TD21 Battery Video Doorbell (Wireless 2K / 3MP)
The Tapo TD21 Battery Video Doorbell delivers excellent video quality and overall performance. The 2K (3MP) resolution is sharp and clear, making it easy to recognize faces and see details both during the day and at night. The build quality feels solid, and the app is user-friendly with useful features that work reliably. However, the battery life did not fully meet my expectations. Even after turning off unnecessary notifications and disabling features that could drain the battery, I had to recharge the doorbell after just 1 month and 3 days, at which point the battery was already down to 20%. While this may depend on usage and activity levels, I was expecting a longer battery life based on typical use. Overall, this is a very good doorbell camera in terms of video quality, reliability, and ease of use. If battery life is not your top priority or if you don’t mind recharging monthly, it is still a solid choice. That said, improving battery performance would make this product even better.
