Awesome tig / stick machine
I love it for the small projects I do. More then enough power for what I need. Only thing and it's my fault not the ARCCAPTAIN company's, i am a novice to tig, welding, so I did not know there were two types of machine DC and AC/DC so I am not able to tig weld aluminum, like I thought I would be again That is totally my fault. So if you plan on purchasing this welder to do aluminum, you will need an DC/DC welder.

Best entry-level welder
A awesome little welder for steel the tig torch is grate for small projects if you was going to use with thicker metal like 1/4 + I would go get a water cooled torch the one it comes with could do it but would need time to cool down before long Burned about 15lbs of rods mostly 6011 and 7018 will not run 6010 the stinger ok had no problems with it but would upgrade to something with more bite The ground clamp works but sucks first thing I changed All in all best welder for the price in my opinion

Very good welder.
so far it has been surprising how well it works for such a small welder. I love the remote adjusting feature from your phone.

Nice welder
Only used as a stick welder so far...but it really is impressive. 110does a hood job on thinner material but the 220 is pretty impressive for the size of the machine.

Not bad but could be definitely better
This welder isnt bad but it does have it's quirks. When welding with stick it seems amperage might be off from the actual readout. Possibly lower amps then what the machine shows. I bought a arccaptain foot pedal for it and tried to get it to work with this machine bit had nothing but issues at first. I finally was able to get it to working order but took a great deal of troubleshooting. Welding with 120v is a trial in itself and definitely frustrating. For the money, I think there might be better options out there.

Compact and modern
I would call this a "enhanced" DC TIG welder as well as stick welder. Enhanced in that it offers DC TIG with traditional foot pedal control, with the addition of "cold TIG" spot welding. The cold TIG is a modification of pulse circuitry that allows for selection of a welding spot pulse, of varying intensity and duration. This simplifies managing a setting normally done with with pulse current, base current, upslope and downslope as provided on pulse equipped machines. This is very convenient for working with thin material, as in auto body work. The manual is very thick, but only because it covers 3 languages, the actual welding information is pretty decent however with good process introductions, basic welding technique tutorials, and charts for all processes showing recommended amps, times, electrode sizes, etc. The manual does not really flesh out the "cold spot, and "cold TIG" functions, in the advertising they are presented as 2 different processes, yet to me there appears to be only 1 actual mode. The NOT included foot control is of a good quality, as I have inspected one up close. The torch is a good size, yet the old style with the on/off switch tie wrapped to the torch handle; a modern ergonomic type torch would be more in order. A good quality gas supply hose is included as well as a shoulder strap and machine cover. The machine itself is nicely styled and claims a engineered air flow to maximize airflow and minimize dust ingestion; this is coupled with a thermostatic fan, which I personally do not prefer over a traditional constant operation fan. You also get the standard 2T-4T trigger operation choice, that is non locking and locking operation. Gas inlet and outlet are standard, which is welcome, and the DINSE connections are the larger diameter, allowing use of existing standard torches that may be on hand. There is a connector on the machine back listed as "helmet connector", so I assumed this couples with some specially dedicated welding hood offered by the manufacturer; a web link is presented for reference in the manual. On checking it out, it takes you to the main website, on which there is no "cold weld" helmet available. Inquires to the customer service e-mail were plagued by miscommunication. Further inquiry as to why then do they supply a machine so equipped, and why if they do not offer such a accessory, do they not at least furnish a source, were finally answered with the explanation of "there was not much demand, so the option will be suspended". The machine is advertised to connect to wi-fi, and I am not going to go there, or to the place that the dedicated app exists, because frankly, to me there is no need, (or on my part, desire}, to have that technology creep into my welding experience, but I know there are those who will enjoy that. There is not a word of any of this in the manual btw. This unit is currently being offered at a $70 discount which puts it below the $300 mark, and so priced it may be a good option if you do not need AC welding, or traditional pulse welding. You would still need to source a regulator and the foot pedal for the complete package, so that will set you back about $120- $140, depending on your regulator/ flow-guage choices. The machine offers a 3 year warranty, of course this is contingent on the brand enduring through that time frame.

Works great, for the price. Does everything I want it to do in my sculpturing projects. Easy to adjust Amperage and different modes.

Vraiment une belle et bonne machine!! Faut noter qu’elle as la haute fréquence! J’ai commander une pédale pour avoir un meilleur contrôle!!

4 stars as it said AC/DC in the description, yet this is in fact a straight DC welder. Other than that, this machine has surprised me and provides smooth arc control. I haven't tried the stick welding yet, but I weld stainless and mild steel with great results! One of my only concern was the fact I purchased a foot pedal that doesn't work when hooked up.
