Have not used this much yet, but so far works well. Faster than I expected after reading some of the other reviews. Identifies with Mac very quickly and easily. A breeze to install. Hope it works just as easily with iPhones and iPads. It's main purpose is to store photos. Looking forward to future successes

My son's main PC disk was filling up so I wanted to get him a good, speedy external drive that he could use for his games. It had to be quick enough to be able to load current gen game files, likes textures, etc. in real-time and pretty quickly. This drive came through.As you can see from the screenshot, speeds are blazing fast for an external drive, but here's the thing to keep in mind: Be sure your USB port is a USB 3.1 standard (current for 2024). And since the naming conventions have changed a gazillion times for USB, just be sure it has a 10 next to it for 10Gbps speeds. If you're using a 5Gbps port or -- gasp! -- USB 2.0 port, you will not get the full benefit of this drive.However, if you use the drive as intended, expect a consistent, dependable drive for games, photos, movies or whatever you need to store on it.

I got this on a whim one night when it was on sale. Wish I’d been able to get more but the sale shut down quickly. This little thing is a perfect SSD for my MacBook Air! I was able to easily copy all my photos, videos and documents from my Dell Windows based laptop, then with no changes at all walk over to my MacBook, plug in and start accessing everything. No muss, no fuss! And it’s so small and light!

Update: 6-26-2025After very infrequent use (about 10 times in past 3 month since purchase), I am getting drive errors. I had to scan and correct errors in the drive last couple of times I tried to use it. Fast still when working, but now I am not confident of its longitivity. I should have gotten a name brand.Transferred 400GB. For the first 200 GB the transfer speed was about 400 to 500 MB. This was from LG gram with 2.5TB ssd and 48Gb of ram running windows 11.However after 200GB of transfer the rate dropped to 80 to 100MB. So, this is the indication as to how much cache it has. I was transferring mostly larger digital photo images for first 300 GB.Also, when I tried to use USB C connector the speed was only in 50 to 60MB/s. At least for the LG gram the usb A port can provide about 500MB/s speed but not usb c.So, overall I am pleased with the performance. However, it does get hot after 20 minutes of continued operation and expect a slowdown if you plan on transferring more than 200GB or so. Obviously, you have to choose the port wisely to get the maximum speed.The unit went back to 500MB/s after less than minute cooling down.Good performace product, with few minor caveats.
