A lovely cheap fountain pen
The pen arrived yesterday, the usual fast Amazon delivery, in a cardboard envelope and the pen itself was in a loose plastic wrap. Unscrewing the pen you'll find the ink cartridge, hold the nib end upright and push the cartridge in until the little ballbearing clicks, reassemble the pen and hold vertical with the nib facing down...hold it in this position for a couple of minutes and then the ink has time to run into the nib. I am no expert in the field of fountain pens and I only own one other that was around £18, which I have been using for about a year. My older pen has a medium nib and writes beautifully. I saw a few reviews of this Platinum pen and decided to try it with the fine nib, as I said the ink does flow after a little preparation, it's plastic body means it is much lighter than a metal bodied pen...it is really made for kids after all! I wanted to try a fine nib but didn't want to spend a lot of money... I've used this for a day now and can honestly say it's a lovely pen, it's comfortable to hold, the ink flows with no problems and I've had no issues using on a variety of paper mediums. Four decades of Biro use and then texting certainly had a detrimental effect on my handwriting, so to start improving this I decided on going back to fountain pens. The beauty of fountain pens and cursive writing means you have to actually think about each letter in the word...it's very therapeutic indeed! I've ordered two more ink cartridges as I'll be using this pen for work To summarise....cheap, easy to set up, lovely to write with and I thoroughly recommend this pen.

Cheap and fairly cheerful
The pen is the bic of fountain pens. Use it for everyday use and you'll be fine. Writes smoothly however, I'm not a black fountain ink fan. It's a workhorse pen. Worth a try for sure.

First class - best sketcher and shader at any price really - shame about converter cost.
These are cracking little pens - up there with the best for sketching and shading, and at a geat price - the only problem with them is the cost of the converter - more than the pen - doesn't make any sense. Just refill the supplied cartridge and refuse the Platinum converter extortion.

Better than most higher priced pens.
My favourite pen, this is the third one of these pens I have purchased. My son pinched the others so had to get this one. The pen writes well and is also really useful for drawing. The ink flows smoothly and the carbon black is very good, dark black. The nib allows for really small detailed writing but also allows for larger writing styles.

Writes like silk.
The nib is extremely well made, and glides along paper in a way that feels much more like an expensive pen than a very affordable one. Highly recommended for people that prefer fountain pens, but would like one that's not going to make the eyes water if you lose it while rushing round.

Not right for me.
Not suitable for my hand and handwriting, but may be the pen for you.

I’m extremely happy with this Platinum Preppy 03. The pen is very lightweight and writes incredibly smoothly, making it perfect for everyday use. What I really appreciate is that I’ve never had any ink on my hands, and the ink dries very quickly, so there’s no smudging or bleeding. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a reliable and comfortable writing pen!

The pen is very light. It writes smoothly. The feedback is excellent. The cartridge supplied with the pen lasted for a month(school notes). The platinum peppy cartridges are costly. I tried Parker cartridge. There is compatibility issue still manageable. The pen is designed to support ink directly filled to the pen.(eye drops). Very much satisfied with the pen. If you like collecting fountain pens.. and u think these pens can alter your mood .. go ahead and buy. I have a collection of various fountain pens and they each has unique character and I use them according to my mood. It helps.

Had been using this pen since January 2023 (it's now October 2023) and it's become my favorite fountain pen. It never dries out, it's lightweight, also it's affordably priced too. The nib i feel is very smooth, and dispenses a lot of ink when in use. I also purchased this in a medium nib and use them both regularly. For those curious about fountain pens, this is the one I would recommend without hesitation.
