This is an excellent book! It is very interesting and an easy read. Lots of great stories and observations. Anyone interested in knowing more about Jerry and his life will enjoy it! If you're a Dead Head and Jerry enthusiast (and maybe even a musician, like me), and you're of the age when you toured with the Dead and Garcia Band mostly in the 80's and early 90's until Jerry passed, you'll especially like this book (many shows you were at are mentioned!) What makes it a great additional read to all the other Dead and Jerry books you've read (if you're a Dead Head, I know you've read them!) is that the author Dell' Amico and friend to Jerry's provides an intimate account of the man (and the band to some degree, too) as just what he was like as a person, hanging out in his home - how he lived, what's in Jerry closet, going out to restaurants, doing drugs, driving his beasty BMW, relating to fans, talking to his band mates and guiding the band. Dell'Amico is a concert and music videographer; he recorded and produced the fall of 1980 Radio City/San Fran acoustic/electric shows, with those funny bits with Al Franken and Tom Davis. Those stories alone are worth the price of the book. Dell'Amico also filmed all those 80's "In the Dark" album song videos, like the Touch of Grey video and all the big stadium concert jumbo screen videos. He and Jerry shared a love of films and were friends. You don't get that kind of insight from any other Dead or Jerry book (I know, I've read them!) I couldn't put the book down and devoured it in a day. You know, they way a Dead Head would. :)

Insightful, personal, deep, and hilarious! This book gives a look into a friendship with Jerry, the good and dark, and the writing is super interesting. It feels like a conversation with someone just telling stories. Definitely a good add to the collection.

Great book about the grateful dead leader and guitar legend,there have been many books about Jerry but this is packed with new stories about his life and times highly recommended
