1 unit with 4 power heads and they’re very very strong was far too powerful for my 5ft tank.

not at all, as long as its low enough in the tank, this is quite powerful , I would only suggest this if you have a 450+ ltr tank minimum, and fish that like a lot of water movement, if you have a smaller tank, then look for the single and double versions instead
