I get very hesitant to order things when I see a lot of clearly photoshopped images on the product page, like the one with someone with bare hands holding this pan as it comes out of the oven with roasted chicken. Not going to happen! These handles are going to be hot! However, I'm seeing more and more enameled cast iron cookware out there that is pretty darn good and not as pricey as the famous name brand we all know, so I was willing to take a chance with a guarded heart and a readiness to return if need be. This is beautiful and well made. I can find no flaws at all. I am not disappointed! And this is my fourth piece of enameled cast iron cookware. I'm not new to this. The metal handle is important if you need to have the lid on in the oven. 5 QT is a nice reasonable size for a family meal and much easier to handle and drag around than a 7QT which is better for larger crowds or making meals meant to have lots of leftovers. This is a doable size for every day. I have a larger version of this from Lodge and feel like it matches in quality, but the finish might be just a little prettier.

Dutch oven appear well built. It’s heavy, and enamel coating looks good. It hold the temperature really well and even. It is great for roasting oblong pieces of meat, or stews. It holds a really good amount, so family of 4-6 could easily get a meal. It could be great for bread too, considering the shape. We already have a dedicated Dutch oven for bread, so we won’t use it for this purpose.

This dutch oven is beautiful! It was packaged really well and had no damage. I had purchased a different brand a few years ago that was not packed as carefully and the enamel was chipped and damaged.This cooked and cleaned up really well and I am excited to continue cooking in it.

We used it for roasting our Thanksgiving turkey (double breast). Heavy duty with good quality enameling. The 7-quart size is fairly large and was perfect for our needs. Could also use stove-top for soups and similar. Very happy with it. Easy clean.
