Can not live without it!
As a professional photographer using the Sony A1, I can confidently say that the Sony FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM OSS II lens is a remarkable addition to my gear. Here are a few reasons why this lens deserves a five-star rating:**Exceptional Image Quality**The optical quality of the FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM OSS II is simply outstanding. The sharpness across the entire zoom range is impressive, with beautifully rendered details and minimal distortion. Whether I’m shooting portraits, wildlife, or sports, the images come out crystal clear with vibrant colors and excellent contrast.**Fast and Reliable Autofocus**The autofocus system on this lens is both fast and reliable, making it ideal for capturing moving subjects. The Eye AF feature works flawlessly, allowing me to achieve razor-sharp focus on my subjects’ eyes, which is crucial in professional photography.**Build Quality and Ergonomics**Sony's G Master series is known for its robust construction, and this lens is no exception. It feels solid in hand, yet it’s surprisingly lightweight considering its capabilities, which is a significant advantage for long shoots. The weather-sealed body provides peace of mind in various shooting conditions, allowing me to concentrate on my work without worrying about environmental factors.**Versatile Zoom Range**With a focal length of 70-200mm, this lens covers a versatile range that is perfect for different photography styles. The constant f/2.8 aperture is a game-changer, providing excellent low-light performance and beautiful background blur (bokeh), which enhances portrait shots.**Image Stabilization**The built-in OSS (Optical SteadyShot) image stabilization is another highlight, allowing me to shoot at slower shutter speeds without sacrificing sharpness. This feature is invaluable for handheld shooting, especially in dynamic environments.**Conclusion**Overall, the Sony FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM OSS II lens delivers exceptional performance and quality, making it an essential tool for any professional photographer using the Sony A1. It consistently exceeds my expectations across various scenarios, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking to elevate their photography to new heights.

An Outstanding Improvement!
My first generation Sony 70-200 GM was my workhorse for many different kinds of photography for several years. I converted from Canon to Sony about six years ago, and used to rely similarly on the venerable Canon 70-200 L. I was delighted and impressed by the better performance of the Sony 70-200 after changing brands, and couldn't imagine things getting much better. I was accordingly reluctant when Sony announced the 70-200 GM II--I didn't think the marginal improvement possible could be worth the investment. The DXO ratings on the new 70-200 II eventually convinced me to take the plunge, and wow! I was surprised by the significant step-up in quality from the first time I used the new lens. I am mostly a sports shooter these days. I am routinely stunned by the increased resolution and focal accuracy of the new 70-200 II. The reduced weight, manual f-stop control, and additional IS controls are certainly niceties, but it's image quality and reliability that's critical to me. The new lens delivers, over and over again. I can routinely see individual eye-lashes and hairs on moving athletes captured at 200mm and 1/1000 across a gym or indoor arena, and images at ISO 4000+ have little or very manageable noise. I'm convinced the new II lens on a Sony A-1 becomes The Best Sports Camera In the World and have many images to prove it. And, of course, the combination does a great job with portraiture as well. Despite the expense, I'm very glad I stepped up from the I to the II. It is a significant and outstanding improvement.

Incredible lens, fast, sharp, and lightweight
A gorgeous lens. Very lightweight (for what it does - this is a professional bright aperture zoom). Autofocus is very fast and precise with my Sony a1. Image quality is wonderful. The inner-zoom design is a game-changer - one to go to inner-zoom you never want to go back.

Razor-Sharp
Love the versatility of 70-200 for everyday shoot or a professional setting. for the lens functions the focus ring is at the very end of the lens which is great I love the fact the zoom ring is closer to the body for comfort and stability when you are shooting. the aperture ring is small enough for rotation with click and no lock function for quite aperture adjustment while shooting video. AF switch DMF and Focus Range are in a great stop if you are shooting portrait or landscape also included OSS mode and mode are great I usually use 1 but for video i would use 3 i would play around it all is a personal preference. The weight is up there it's lighter then the MRKI for sure but it will get heavy with long trip if you are nature photographer but don't get me wrong it's worth the haul. Auto focus speed is absolutely stunning for fast transitions. Also, the internal zoom is great for video when you use a gamble is fantastic there still is going to be weight shift but obviously not even close ot the telescopic external zoom. over all if money if not a problem 100% buy it but if you are looking at the G or the M+GM MRKI save the money if you can and get the MKR II.

Shockingly fast auto focus and tact sharp OSS
If you’re considering this lens you obviously take your craft very seriously. I recently switched to Sony as I am integrating more videography into my work. I use this lens on a A7Cii and the results are incredible. The autofocus speed is truly mind blowing. This lens is bright, light, smaller than other 2.8s, and seemingly very well sealed. Although I don’t often need to use a teleconverter, I appreciate that I am able to when warranted. For decades I’ve used Canon and Nikon but… I have to admit, the glass coming from Sony in recent years has raised the bar considerably. I don’t know if I’d claim that this is the perfect zoom but it is as close as I’ve seen. Can it replace some of the primes?… for me, yes.
