I have some parts in my house that I have never repainted since we purchased it. I wanted to check if lead was present. I also decided to check other areas outside of my home and these swabs def work. Inside my home it was negative for lead but outside it was a small positive. So that is enough for me to get started in removing that paint! The results show fast and are very easy to use. It shows like a pinkish color if its positive. Great price too.

I bought this to test vintage fine china from the 1930s–40s that I’m almost certain contains lead due to its glaze and age. The kit was easy to use, with clear instructions, and all my tests came back negative.While it technically worked as described, I was surprised by the results, given the known risks with older porcelain. It might not be sensitive enough for antiques, but it could be fine for casual testing of newer items.I gave it 5 stars because it performed as advertised, but I won’t be buying it again. Worth a try—just know it may not catch everything.

Idk if these actually work? Nothing changed color. I even swabbed the wall of my old 70s apartment that I know has lead and nothing happened? I wouldn't waste your money.

My house was built the year after they banned lead paint in newly built houses but I never trusted the builder. I would not have put it past him to use 5 year old paint that he had sitting around. In anticipation of remodeling my bathroom, I sent for this kit. bathroom paint that was exposed tested negative. Was it a valid test? I swabed some known lead bearing solder and the swab detected the lead. Not a highly scientific validation of the test but the best I could think of.

Easy to use. Just dip in vinegar and it’s ready to be swiped on things to test for lead. I just went on a rampage and tested a bunch of thrift store items and they are all lead free!
