Although it's not cheap, I get much more consistent shots with this tamper, than the one that came with my Flair 58.

Like many espresso machines, mine came with that terrible plastic scoop/tamper combination that makes it impossible to get a consistent puck. This Normcore tamper is a night-and-day difference. It fits my 51mm basket perfectly (there is almost zero play at the edges), and because it is self-leveling, it gives a perfectly flat tamp every single time. The spring-loaded mechanism removes all the guesswork regarding pressure. The default spring does require a firm press, but the "click" feedback is satisfying and lets you know exactly when you're done. I had read about "grinding" sensations on the older V4 model, but I'm happy to report that this V4.1 is smooth with no friction issues at all. It feels premium - heavy, solid, and built to last. It might seem expensive compared to a standard tamper, but for the consistency it brings to your esspresso, it is worth it.
