By far the best nipple shield!!!! I’ve tried three different shields before this one, some of them wouldn’t stay in place (medela close contact one was awful) and with others my nipple would get stuck and cause pinching which was super painful. This shield stays in place, baby latches very well, no pinching, and it’s close contact so feels like there isn’t even a shield being used. Highly recommend!

These just saved my breastfeeding journey! I have a very strong let down and oversupply, and it was causing my baby to gag and choke. It was getting to the point that my 7 week old would pull away and scream every time I tried to feed her. I was having to pump and feed bottles for the most part. We have tried other types of nipple shields but she was still having issues and I was irritated with them constantly falling off. These nipple shields are SO much better than the others we have tried. They actually stay on, and function much more like a real nipple. The texture is nice for her (rougher on the nipple part and bumps on the wings) and she can latch well. The slit style openings are preventing the spray to her throat, and the collapsibility means that she can control the flow much better. We have used these multiple times today and each time has been a success! I just purchased two more sets so that we don’t ever have to go without.

I wanted to continue nursing my toddler and breastfeed my newborn son as well. I knew I could do it because I’d successfully breastfed two children. But when my youngest son was born, he struggled a bit with latching correctly and going back and forth between him and my toddler tore my nipples up. I had open wounds that made me cringe everytime I had to feed them. And I had a stinging pain everytime I folding my nursing bra back up (because my wound would fold as well). I almost gave up. But someone told me to try a shield. I chose this brand because of the reviews, shape and pliability. I didn’t want anything hard or cold, so these were perfect. I felt relief within 48 hours as they allowed me to heal. It was immediately easier to breastfeed. They weren’t too obvious under my nursing bra if I wore a hoodie or something bulky. They are easy to clean and also have breathable holes. I’ve heard of some women feeding with them on but I haven’t tried that. I recommend any woman looking for their last resort before giving up to try these first. I am now successfully feeding both children and haven’t had to use them again since they helped heal me up. But I keep them around just in case.

Overall I think these are better than the medela ones. They stay on a lot better, and my baby has a really good latch with it. The only downside I have noticed is that my supply has decreased since using them for a week. I think the nipple part is much thicker compared to the medela, and is possibly decreasing the amount of stimulation. I will continue to alternate with the medela to hopefully get the best of both!

Needed these because my baby wouldn’t latch. They came off a lot but I have issues with my nipples alone. So it might work better for someone that has more erect ones.

Really great shields. Provided me with a lot of relief especially because my child had a latching issue and was causing damage to my nipples. They’re thin and easy to wash. Stay in place. Really affordable too and worth it. I also liked the case because it allowed me to store them while not in use and ensured they’d be clean and ready.

My baby struggles to latch on one side due to a collapsing nipple and I thought I’d never be able to breastfeed on that side. This thing saved my breastfeeding journey. I like the butterfly shape which sticks much better than the more rounded nipples shields offered by other brands, and I love that there are only 2 holes which helps with my fast letdown. One thing to note: make sure you put them on so that the flat side of the nipple is against your baby’s tongue otherwise they will have trouble latching. The direction you put them on will vary based on the breastfeeding hold you use.

maybe I got the wrong size, but these absolutely pinched my nipples and caused me so much pain. I immediately had to throw them in the trash after attempting to use them several times. I have purchased several different types of nipple shields, and this one seems to be made out of some sort of plastic versus the silicone ones that I’ve used which are much softer on the nipple. They do tend to stay in place which I appreciated about them and was surprised based on the price point but man I cannot get over this pain it has caused.

Don't normally write reviews, but these deserve a review! These shields are the only reason I was able to nurse to my baby. I had a combo of severe damage, overactive let down, poor latch, and oral dysfunction that made it almost impossible to nurse in the beginning but these actually worked! I tried every single brand I could get my hands on, but these were the only ones that worked for us. They actually stay put, don't slide around or fall off easily. Texture of them made it easier for baby to latch and control the flow. Truly the only reason I was able to nurse.

My baby is now 5 months old. For the past 5 months, we have been on a breastfeeding roller coaster. We saw 4 lactation consultants. Baby girl had posterior tongue tie, high palate and "small mouth". She had a frenectomy and a lot of my pain was resolved, however ... her latch improved only slightly. After the procedure, the LC assessed her latch and said “it’s still not great,” but could not offer any further advice. Baby continued to slip off the breast repeatedly, getting more and more frustrated at the breast... she would cry and flail and scream bloody murder (at times we thought she was reacting to gas, reflux, or whatever else we could come up with... but in hindsight, it was 100% frustration at not being able to adequately extract milk). We resorted to primarily exclusive pumping with some breastfeeding (while using Medela nipple shields) prior to naps (when she wasn't ravenous and sleepy enough not to get impatient). She got a better latch with the Medela shields than bare breast, but still not great at all. She would get frustrated quite a bit, kick and turn her head... then the Medela shield would be slipping all over the place. Beyond frustrating for the both of us. The Medela shields are quite thick and it’s perfect cone shape was too difficult for her to latch onto. The cone of the Medela shield was too hard to chomp down on and there was no “nub” at the end of it to give baby grip and prevent from slipping off. (Natural nipples have this harder “nub” at the tip that I’m talking about). It's been a journey and I'm surprised I haven't given up. I'm so glad I didn't. Baby girl has always liked her MAM soothers. I've tried a million soothers and she can't keep them in her mouth longer than 5 minutes. So I saw these MAM nipple shields online and went on the hunt for a place to buy them in Canada. Couldn't find a single seller... not even on Amazon. I contacted MAM themselves, they responded with "sorry, not available in Canada"... and offered no help. I was pretty bummed out. They sell everything else in Canada, why not their shields? I even gave them my sob story and told them how their soothers was all that my baby could keep in her mouth and that I was certain the shape of their shields would be helpful. OH WELL. ANYWAYS, I ended up buying them from a lovely seller from the UK. Bought a pack of 2 for around $12-15. However, now that Amazon is selling them, I ordered more to have on hand. SO grateful to Amazon for deciding to supply these to Canadians. My baby can finally latch!! She breastfeeds for 30-45 minutes... and she's not getting frustrated and wailing! I can't stress this enough... these MAM shields are amazing. The shape stops my baby from slipping off... the thinness of the silicone allows her to “chomp down” and trigger let down. The shield sticks to my breast SO MUCH better... it has wide wings that allow me to also hold it down when she's resituating without getting my fingers in her way. The tip of the nipple shield gets ever so slightly thicker, creating sort of a "nub" at the tip.. and I honestly find this "nub" helps her to grip the nipple and not slip off like she does with bare breast and the Medela shields. If you are having latch issues, give these a try. I am 20mm in Medela shields and size 2 (23mm) in MAM shields. I hope my review helps at least one other mother with breastfeeding woes. Don't give up just yet! Try these. I'm 5 months in and we're moving into exclusive breastfeeding territory. 👀 Will update if opinion changes, but we've been using these for 2 months and we haven't looked back! 🤞🏼 15/02/21 UPDATE: We’ve made it through an entire year and then some of breastfeeding ... all thanks to these shields!! There was a few months before receiving these shields that I was pretty well exclusively pumping as the frustration experienced with breastfeeding was too much for the both of us. I remember LC’s telling us that “nipple shields are not a long term solution.” They were for us! Without them, we would have had to stop. Seriously consider giving these a try if you’re having latch issues before quitting. I had it in my head that “if breastfeeding wasn’t established and immediately easy from the start... it wasn’t something obtainable for moms and babies.” It turns out that you can establish breastfeed MONTHS after birth! If you’re able to maintain a supply for a few months, breastfeeding can still happen! I will add that, from 5 months on, I exclusively breastfed during the daytime and I gave baby pumped breast milk in a bottle at bedtime (and maybe once through the night if she woke). I preferred giving her pumped milk at bedtime as I found it easier to ensure she was getting enough milk before she fell asleep... and I found it easier to lay her in her crib after a bottle. I would wake up in the morning with her, breastfeed her and then pump afterward. I would breastfeed her 2 more times during the daytime and then pump around supper time and again before bed. In summary, I breastfed 3 times per day and pumped 3 times per day... on average. With this routine, I never had any issues with my supply. Therefore, I can tell you that these nipple shields never made me feel like my supply was being effected. However, pumping along with breastfeeding definitely encouraged my supply and was majorly necessary for those crazy growth spurts. Also, it may be helpful to know, we used the Avent Natural Glass baby bottles. I believe the shape of the Avent bottle nipples helped my baby to be able to switch back and forth between bottle and breastfeeding (with MAM shields) as the Avent nipples shape is more like a natural breast. We had Chicco glass bottle before our Avent ones, and I found she MAY have been starting to develop a nipple preference to those as they were a lot easier for her to extract milk... maybe too easy. ***Side note: There are only 2 sizes to choose from in the MAM nipple shields. You want the shield to be bigger than your actual nipple. Nipple shields are not meant to fit snug, as baby will end up pulling your actual nipple into and through the tiny holes ... YIKES 🤢. You want space between your nipple and the shield as a buffer to prevent chafing and pulling your nipple into the holes (I’m sorry for that image lol). But you also don’t want the shield being so big that your baby can’t grip the shield and your nipple at the same time. Luckily, there’s only 2 sizes to choose from... so you might be out $15 if you choose the wrong size. Also.... “Liquid Premium cooking coconut oil” (bought from Amazon) worked WAY better on my sore nipples than Lanolin. Also, if soreness is bad enough, ask your doctor to prescribe you “Dr Jack Newman’s All Purpose Nipple Ointment (APNO).” Look on Google to see what I mean. It’s a 3 ingredient ointment. Most pharmacies know what it is, my older doctor had to look it up. There is a steroid in the ointment though, so don’t use it more than prescribed or long term. Long term use of topical steroids can cause “thinning of the skin.”
