OMG this is really great!
I am old school when it comes to peeling potatoes carrots, cucumbers etc. I always did it by hand because 'regular' peelers didn't work smoothly at all. This little thing just slides across any veggie without clogging or chunking. It is small so it stores well a quick rinse and it's clean and no more struggling to peel tonight's dinner veggies. Love it! It does need to just be rinsed and dried, dishwasher will make it rust.

Best peeler ever!
What a great little peeler! I was a little surprised by the small size of this peeler, but I tried it our and WOW! This is the easiest time I've ever had peeling a butternut squash! The blades are razor sharp, and they seem to slice a bit shallower than other peelers, allowing you to peel tough squash easily and not throw away any of the good part. When this one wears out, I'll definitely replace it with another of the same thing.

Rusts almost immediately
**Update** I'm changing my four-star rating to one. As I'm see others point out, this thing rusts ridiculously easily, even if you hand wash it and dry it. I used it the one time, hand washed it, wiped it off and put it in my drawer. I got it out yesterday and found significant amounts of rust on it. Another person commented that one should never put carbon steel blades in the dishwasher - but this came in a plain plastic bag so there were no instructions to warn a person of that fact. Even so, I hand washed mine and it still rusted. I am very unhappy about it. It was $6.19 when I bought it; not a ton of money, but six bucks is six bucks, and it should be usable past one time. I'll treat it with rust remover, but I see from other reviewers that it will rust irrespective of how you treat it. Very disappointing. I have two other peelers that I really like, but got this one with the carbon blade to peel winter squash. It worked like a warm knife cutting butter. It's a wee little peeler and when I first saw how small and light weight it was, I thought it was a joke. But it really takes care of tough peel jobs like butternut squash, etc.

Works well, good price.
Works well. Blade gets rusty, but for the price I can afford to replace it often.

Don't Settle and Check the Fine Print
Avoid cheap imitations! WhenI first ordered this, Amazon showed me other options, which I thought were just bundled sets of the Kuhn Rikon peelers. What arrived was cheap knockoffs......sent those back and ordered the real thing. These are simple and lightweight, but work really well. Sharp blade lasts for years.

You need this!
Martha Stewart is right! If it’s just potatoes, stick with your oxo peeler. But when you get into apples and larger items, you need this!

Rusted within the first few uses
I was excited by the positive reviews for this item, and it's a decent peeler, but it rusted within the first few uses. I sometimes have to pre-wash it before use, and then dry it thoroughly once washed to avoid red rust accumulating on the blade. I would not buy again.

Great product!
Exactly what I wanted!

This peeler works very well but feels kind of flimsy compared to my old OXO one.

Was initially pleased with the product, it does work well. However, very disappointed that it rusted after only 3-4 times of use. Washed as per usual, and kept on open dish rack until dry.

My Star Swiss metal peeler (SSMP) wasn't working well after over 25 years of having it. This Kuhn Rikon works well but I rather prefer the way my old all metal SSMP, so I transferred the blade of the Kuhn Rikon to my SSMP and now it works like it did 25+ years ago. I had tried to sharpen the SSMP blade having the blade installed in the peeler. But after removing the blade and before placing it in the Kuhn Rikon I tried to sharpen it and I was able to do a better job, so now I have 2 peelers with very sharp blades that work well. BTW, I have more peelers including a very well rated OXO, but they do not hold a candle IMHO to my old Star Swiss, both ergonomically and sharpen wise.

Works as well as any peeler of similar design, but I find my Swissmar easier to use. Same head, but the extra couple of centimeters on the handle make for better leverage and control.
