An Endearing and Real Film
It Truly was a very entertaining film and so true to real life, we live in a world of people wanting that fairytale ending, I could relate to this film as someone who has had unrequited attraction to another person and although melancholy in parts, it is a wonderful film

endearing, but needs a bit more
Caito is very lovable in this film, and it's easy to see what Lorenzo sees in him. Lorenzo also, and he is perhaps more memorable, in a sense, possibly thanks to the actor. I found it a little too restrained in the end - I mean, not even a proper kiss ... I know adolescent friendships can often be like this, but in that case the dialogues need to feel sharper to make up for it. You either have to be Eric Rohmer and fashion a watertight plot out of seemingly inconsequential exchanges, or give us, the viewers, a bit more of what we want to see, namely something that engages more fully with the love impulse, as you get in Andre Techine's recent Quand on a 17 ans. The treatment of Lorenzo's feelings is sensitive in a way that is just a bit too underlined, as if saying how wonderfully politically correct we all are now. But somehow it doesn't then make sense that he would have any problem admitting it, which he clearly does. It just doesn't quite add up, and the heterosexual episode feels very forced given how he comes across, and the lack of pressure on him. It is enjoyable to watch, but not a film to compare with the Techine, which hasn't had a UK release in spite of his being such a brilliant filmmaker. So what's new, really?

Beautiful Film
Fantastic coming of age film with marvellous performances by both young actors - really true to life and a wonderful representation of adolescent loyalty that can only come at that age where allegiances are formed on emotional attachment - not judgemental.I can only expect that the future for these young actors are very well placed for success - wonderful performances from such young people.

This film is ok. It tells the story of ...
This film is ok. It tells the story of a friendless man trying to prove for a bet that he has friends. It's a little drawn-out. It has sub-titles.

The 'classic' meaningful French movie
The French can make the movies which are full of meaning but are also very easy to watch. This is one of the great examples of the French 'savoir faire' in the domain of educating and entertaining us at the same time. The movie is about friendship, a concept which is perhaps ever more urgent in the age of Facebook, etc, and so, it is important indeed to remind us what is real friendship and real communication. The acting is the best of the best and for someone who wants something different from highly entertaining but empty, this movie will surely contribute to a great experience.

Subtle, beautifully acted and lightly humorous entertainment.
I am writing about the 2006 French film directed by Patrice Leconte, with Daniel Auteuil in the lead. My Best Friend is its English title. In French it's Mon Meilleur Ami.At the time of writing Amazon has accurately summarized this film in its usual Description -accessed by scrolling down from the highlighted image of the dvd cover - BUT be warned that in this case amongst the reviews are some which have nothing to do with this film. Please could Amazon take appropriate action to correct this. The only reason I have withheld a fifth star (my preferred four and a half isn't possible) is to dampen the expectations that top marks invariably create, in this instance especially in those whom low key comedy usually disappoints.I enjoyed this film hugely.

Beautiful and heartbreaking too.
Such a lovely film. The friendship between the two young men builds gently and although it doesn't perhaps go the way the viewer would like it avoids the obvious cliché Hollywood ending and it is the better for it.Watch it for the central performances and the beautiful cinematic scenes in the nature and perhaps relive the intensity of first love and friendship.Just beautiful x

I like Danny Boon movies. I have practically a collection. He's like the Adam Sandler, but a French of France type. Hilarious actor in all his movies. Very facial expresssive.

Leve pero agradable / Light but enjoyable
It’s a little lighter than perhaps you might expect from a film by this director but for what it is - an entertainment - it’s well done and enjoyable. The story is fairly predictable and the characters overdrawn, but the whole thing is saved by excellent acting and the director’s practised skill with gentle comedy.

Very likable characters in a believing story about friendship
Disclaimer: It seems that all reviewers before 2019 are referring to the similarly titled French film "Mon Meilleur Ami" (My Best Friend in English) from 2006. However, I am referring to the Argentinian film "Mi mejor amigo" (My Best Friend in English) from 2018.The film is about the evolving friendship of the young protagonists Lorenzo and Caíto who could not have been more different. Lorenzo sees something in Caíto that others don't. He, Lorenzo, is a very caring and lovable character, whereas Caíto, at first, is very confused with himself and the situation he got himself into. With his selfless kind Lorenzo finds a way to get Caíto into opening up about himself little by little. Fortunately, the emotional screenplay never seems to be out of place, nor does it appear awkward at any point. Further, while the bond between the two is growing stronger, a romantic affection also comes into play. However, the main focus remains on their friendship, and that not for the worse. A truly believable and free of any pathos kind of friendship. (Personal note: If I still was a teenager, I would perceive it more relatable this way than any making-out-wildly story.)Beyond that, the supporting characters have their strong moments, too. I especially want to point out the way the son and his mother interact in one particular scene near the end. It had a very strong impact on me, and I really felt like it could have been my own mom being there in front of the screen. You can literally feel the emotional bond between them. All in all very touching and believable.

Coming of age in Patagonia.
Pleasant and interesting. Well done 'sort of gay coming-of-age' movie but nothing very special. Attractive cast and settings make this Argentinian film worth a visit but overall, a fairly average film.

Inspiring Argentinian teens' friendship
Nice movie about pure friendship between two Argentinian teens, and how it's so much part of life to go through disappointments and detachment, for the sake of truly respecting and loving the other. Good family movie.
